We had the good fortune of connecting with Zahra Mendscole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zahra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For a long time, I had no clue about what I wanted to do with my life. I had my daughter and still had no clue. I knew I needed something that gave me freedom and the fact I was a horrible employee didn’t help either. I did not want to have to ask anyone to pick my child up from school if she happened to get sick. The thought of having to ask permission to take care of her did not sit well with me. I had always been in sales roles after I graduated college so I figured my business include the aspect of sales. My mom suggested that I should try Real Estate, but I need to make sure it was something that I wasn’t going to start and quit so I reached out to a superstar, realtor named Glennda Baker and ask could I shadow her and be an assistant at no cost just to make sure this was what I wanted to do and that was the best decision I could’ve made!

What should our readers know about your business?
As we all know, there are thousands of realtors in Georgia alone. It has been an extreme blessing to become a part of the top 50 Realtors. Something that sets me apart from the rest is my ability to do what makes me uncomfortable. I believe you should watch what everyone else is doing and do the opposite. Getting to where I am today was definitely not easy. I had no clue where my business would come from how I was going to survive or pay my bills, but I did know that if I gave it my all I would be successful so that’s what I did. I learned many lessons along the way, but the most important one I learned was to stay hungry and stay humble!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had someone coming for a week to the Metro Atlanta area, I would show them all of the diverse beauty the city has to hold. We would do outdoor activities like tubing on the Chattahoochee climbing, stone mountain or hiking victory Creek Trail. we would go barhopping along the beltline and dine at all of the awesome restaurants the city has. We would enjoy the nightlife and day life with some of Atlantas, amazing bar and clubs! And close it off with brunch because did you really visit Atlanta if you don’t brunch at a place with a grass wall?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to my mother Renee Mendscole for always inspiring me helping me and showing me that it is possible to be a Mother and business owner! I would also like to dedicate this to Glennda Baker and The Diamond Squad! Without them, I would have never learned to create and build the business that I have today. These women are extremely powerful and always pushed, and believed in me.
