We had the good fortune of connecting with Yuwei Li and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi yuwei, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Painting is a part of my life, so once I had my own studio, a painting career was a natural progression. Only the theme of the paintings has always been a problem that I needed to think about. Because I have painted many subjects, such as Chinese Tibet and Western modern life. Of course, these subjects are all related to me, and they are the subjects I love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The content of my paintings is related to what I am interested in. For example, I’ve been to Tibet before, and I like the customs there, so I created a Tibet series. I think my work has a strong impact, so I have received so much positive feedback from my collectors. Of course, I will also create some popular subjects, such as the series of urban life, which is used to record the life of modern people. Of course, I will also add some of my own understanding in the composition and the use of elements. It takes a lot of experimentation to determine my themes and the use of elements and adaptations, so it’s not an easy road, but I enjoy it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think a walk in the lanes is the best way to enjoy yourself. I like to sit with my friends in a street cafe or bar and have a snack and talk about our lives, our careers and even our pets. Besides that, I think art galleries are also a good choice, viewing artwork can be more relaxing!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my career, I am most thankful for the support of my family and the help of my friends. My family is the first of the priority in my life.I got my studio because of the support of my family, which has allowed me to develop my career, and of course, my friends who have helped me a lot in selling my work. So there are so many people I need to thank, and for me the people around me are precious treasures that I can’t live without.
