We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendel Dandridge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wendel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I honestly had no intentions of starting LEDNEW Enterprise LLC. However, one day I realized that people were willing to pay me for my skills and services. I’ve written a few books, and people needed help publishing theirs. I’ve always been a go-to person for spiritual advice, and people I know were in need of spiritual life coaching. At one point I was a full-time vocal and piano teacher simply giving lessons someone taught me. For me, my business wasn’t about making money but rather legitimizing my skill sets to create an enterprise of opportunities to share with others things I’ve learned. It was at the moment that I realized “people are willing to pay for what I know and can teach” that I started the process of building my business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
LEDNEW Enterprise is a conglomerate of many initiatives. My primary capital gains are in Spiritual Life Coaching and Self-Publishing. What sets me apart from other Spiritual Life Coaches is my 20+ years of experience in the church and the classroom. As Lead Pastor of The Worship Center Church and Professor of Religion at Clark Atlanta University every day is a coaching day! Whether a church member, college student, or professional client, my life revolves around helping people discover their best self through religion and spirituality. I get excited when my church members say “Amen”, my college students say “Dr. D I never thought about it that way”, or my professional clients say “wow”. It lets me know that something I’ve said has led them to a new level of personal consciousness. How I got to where I am today? Failure, trial and error; and not necessarily in that order. Building a business isn’t easy. But when you stay consistent and be your genuine self-people will be drawn to the work you are doing. I always ask why some people prefer certain fast food chains over others? The answer is simple: experience and product. A chicken is a chicken. What you do with that chicken and how you allow your consumers to experience that chicken in your establishment makes the difference. The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that everyone isn’t my client. The second I was able to identify MY POTENTIAL AUDIENCE is the moment I started catching fish in my net and not turtles. I want the world to know that you have a skill set that people are willing to pay you for. Your employer isn’t the only one willing to put a value on your time and talent. Step out on faith and launch that for-profit or non-profit. The support will come as long as you remain genuine to your passion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmmm Atlanta is so large and diverse it’s hard to create a “special” itinerary. Honestly, I’m a simple guy. The best time would be at my home after a slice of pizza and beer at Fellini’s Pizzeria or Marietta Pizza Co. If they wanted to site see my most reflective moments have happened at The King Center and a top Stone Mountain. I’m a transient from Baltimore, MD. I always tell people if you want to experience Atlanta start at the beginning of Peachtree St and drive north! If you see something that sparks your interest turn off and go! That’s how I learned and have experienced the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shout out to my wife Ivanna Dandridge. No idea has ever been too crazy to gather her support. With my enterprise she is my lead advisor. I am always bouncing ideas and implementation off of her to gauge what my potential client is looking for.
