We had the good fortune of connecting with Wakkirea LeVatte and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wakkirea, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I knew I wanted to be a painter at a very young age, since Pre-School I always been passionate about art I see myself doing art for the rest of my life. After I graduated high school I started my business in 2015 doing photography and selling art. After I had my daughter in 2019 I birth a new business Kirealae Fashion Closet. Over the years I have become a Entrepreneur Painter, Sculptor , Guitarist , Makeup Artist, Hairstyles, Published Photographer and Model.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In my work you will see African American Culture Men Women and Children. I like too paint and photograph black love black families , Spirituality, Musicians, my love for nature and animals I’m from a small town in Georgia. I usually have to drive a hour just to get to a local Walmart Micheals or hobby Lobby. I ordered most of my supplies online. I use platform like Etsy Facebook Instagram YouTube and TikTok to share my art, photography and boutique I have a huge following all together I have about 50K followers I have sold several original and customized piece of my art work and I have shipped over 600 ordered from my Boutique Kirealae Fashion Closet you can be from a small town and be successful, I have made great and bad investment when it come to inventory. Like all business it’s have it’s up and down .I have had to rebrand, start over before, it’s not easy, it can be stressful, depressing sometimes, it’s okay to take a break, meditate, replan and try again but I’m not giving up cause I know I can be successful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Arlington Georgia we could visit restaurants Sweet Georgia Brown and Mom and Pops were you can get a great meal and dessert, milkshakes we could also visit the Still Pond VineYard Winery enjoy some great wine.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout-out my mother she is a entrepreneur and multitalented artist as well Thank you for always supporting me and my siblings. Thank you for everything. She always invested in us, music lessons, instruments, art supplies, and more. Shoutout to my daughter she the reason why I started Kirealae Fashion Closet in 2019 she my reason to keep going and not give up.I’m also Thankful for my family friends and clients for all the love and support.
