We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Blade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
There’s a greed for “control” in this world and we are targeted through the food, especially US [black/aboriginal people]. Food has been used as a weapon for many years. From my observation, the spice industry is lacking integrity. There’s white refined/processed sugar in everything, fake salt in everything, unnecessary additives, dyes, and more. I believe seasonings should elevate your food not your blood pressure. I wanted to be a solution for that, so I created Vee’s Seasonings. My brand is gluten free, low sodium, and trust worthy. I create for the greater good of the collective’s health. My intentions are always to promote good health & wellness to all and to assist in the advancement & elevation of my people [black/aboriginal people].

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Vee’s Seasonings is a low-sodium, gluten-free spice business that offers spice blends and dry snacks such as roasted nuts and trail mix. I launched my business February 28, 2022. This year, 2026, I’m celebrating 4 years in business! (3 years active, as I had to take a year off to relocate).
I grew really passionate about conscious consumption in 2019, when I went down a rabbit hole of research for my own health (I’ve suffered from severe eczema). In that rabbit hole I learned how our bodies are made perfect and can heal from anything as long as you fuel them right. This led me to start cooking at home a lot more than eating out. As I quickly evolved into an “ingredients list reader”, I noticed the health threats that so many seasonings have i.e. “white sugar”, “natural flavors”, high sodium levels, etc. As if the intention was to “sabotage” our food. I knew I deserved better, I knew my people (black people) deserved better, and I wanted to be a solution for that. I am a creative so this assignment really intrigued me. I became a spice blend scientist over night and fell in love with the flavor industry. It came easy to me. I create my products for the babies with gluten sensitivity, for the elders that need to watch their blood pressure and sodium levels. I create my products for health conscious people that understand how harmful highly processed sugars are. I create my products for people that value flavor AND wellness. I also pride myself on the design of my products. They are high quality, and they LOOK high quality. The beautiful commercial look of my seasonings and snacks have earned me sales before the flavor does sometimes. Be intentional with your packaging, embrace beauty.

I’ve offered the same 3 blends since I started Vee’s Seasonings (So Savory, Garlic & Herb, Seasoning Salt). I never rushed myself to add more blends because I wanted to perfect the operations side of the business before expanding my offerings. I do not recommend having a large variety of different products starting out, if you’re figuring out the business as you go. I’m excited to announce that after 4 years with the same 3 spice blends, I am launching a new flavor, LEMON PEPPER! This one is special, this is for the culture! I’ve put in lots of hours to get this blend right, and I’m grateful to say my lemon pepper is full of flavor and salt free.

I started as an online business my first year in 2022, which was a pleasant experience. The next year, 2023, I temporarily closed my online store to relocate and rebuild my foundation. I was struggling financially and the online store wasn’t making enough to sustain adulthood. I jumped back into “corporate America”, to get some stability. The job only made me feel like I was suffocating, shrinking myself to fit in these “professional spaces”. April 2024 I got let go from my job. I was told “You’re a good worker, we just can’t afford to keep you.” I took that as a divine sign to refocus on my business and relaunched September 2024. I took a different approach this go round and prioritized in-person “POC” sales. Selling seasonings is much easier to do in person versus online. I began selling my seasonings on my local military base in the PX shopping center (if you know, you know). I would sell my spice blends there 3-5 days a week. It wasn’t my favorite opportunity, but it gave me a consistent schedule and new customers that I still service to this day. Sales didn’t come easy, you had to hustle for them, and I developed a lot of sales skills in that opportunity. Which I still use today. Once farmers market season rolled around (April), I was at farmers markets selling my spices every week, and that became my bread & butter. I enjoyed the energy of the farmers market and I didn’t have to “hustle” for sales, because people come to farmers markets to shop local, fresh, and support local businesses. The perfect atmosphere for Vee’s Seasonings. Farmers markets have opened many doors for me, from networking to wholesaling products. My seasonings have now been sold in 4 stores. I’ve experienced stores closing down, unresponsive owners, etc. Vee’s Seasonings is currently sold in Oyun Botanical in East Point, GA (Atlanta Area). A beautiful, fresh relationship that I’m so grateful to have! No matter what, just keep moving forward. Doors open & close all the time. The right opportunities will find you. Some bring you financial gain and some will bring you wisdom. Both are impactful. Be present with your opportunities. If your products are in a store, build a relationship with the owner, follow up for sales reports, market the store, pour your best intentions into getting your product moving off the shelves.

I do everything myself. I designed my labels, make my blends, bottle and bag the products, sell the products, do the marketing, handle the paperwork. I wear every hat, and YES IT’S CHALLENGING! I’ve learned to ASK FOR HELP. Helping hands really get me through. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of others. Every important person in my life has been in that kitchen with me or poured into my endeavors one way or another. In this new chapter of Vee’s Seasonings I’m welcoming in employees, ever lasting store accounts, more wholesale opportunities, and more customer reach. Lowering high blood pressures and elevating food one bottle at a time!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Eventbrite is very helpful in big cities like Atlanta. I’ve found unique experiences like belly dancing class. We’re definitely finding some mindful movement (yoga, dance class, etc).

I personally don’t drink so I enjoy The Sober Social for a cute mocktail.

NATURE, NATURE, NATURE! Georgia has beautiful forests and rivers. We have to spend some time with Mother Earth!

I’m a foodie so we’re going to my favorite food spots: Tassili’s Raw Reality (black owned), Cafe Sunflower, Ethiopian Food, Lov’n It Live (black owned), Purely Plant (black owned), Vegan House of Pancakes (black owned) just to name a few!

We’re finding somebodies drum circle! The beat of the drums makes the soul dance! You just have to experience it!

For all the relaxation, we’re going to Jeju Sauna, a 24-hr Asian bath house.

And last but not least, we simply just flow. There’s ALWAYS something to do in the city!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a special shoutout to my mama, my dad, my sister, and my brother for always showing me your care, love, and support. Thank you for showing up for me in your own unique ways.
Shoutout to my soul tribe, my Sistars, my kindred sprits!
And big shoutout to my honorable ancestors and passed loved ones that walk with me! Thank you!
All Praises to The Creator!
