We had the good fortune of connecting with Vance Vision and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vance, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Wanting to work for myself and control my own destiny. I never had any doubt that I wanted to own whatever I am spending my time on.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say a strong point that has always been my bread and butter is mixing. I have developed a precise ear over the many years of mixing and have an intuitive understanding of how artists and producers want the song to sound like. Being that I am an artist and producer myself, it makes it easy for me to automatically go to the exact sound they are looking for. The most said thing to me by my clients is “You made the song sound exactly like it was in my head!”

It wasn’t easy to get to this point. It took many years of hours and hours of recording sessions, mixing sessions and production sessions. Repetition is the main thing that leads me to the success of what I do. The art of doing it over and over and over again, makes me be able to almost mix in my sleep. This in turn helps my production of music 100 percent more because I can hear how I can manipulate a sound before the recording of it is even finished.

The lessons I learned are nothing comes overnight. People will try to sell you quick success schemes, but the best idea is to believe in your own ideas. Nobody can express they way you envision it better than yourself.

I want people to know that I am super talented at what I do recording and mixing, and my mixing services will always be available to some capacity, but my best work and ideas dealing with mass media, audio, TV & Film, have yet to unfold. Please stay tuned.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably take them to a night on Edgewood or East Atlanta Village to a bar or spot with a cool DJ. Defiantly some sort of hip hop event or concert that might be during their stay. Probably go check out the Georgia Aquarium, Coca Cola Building, or the MLK center. Probably would take them out to eat at Soul Vegetarian Restaurant or the Jamaican Spot by west end mall.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother & father, Dorothy & Napoleon Hornbuckle because they are the backbone to my success. They really showed me that they believe in me and are willing to do their best to assist me in my dreams. They always have had faith in my professional vision and are very proud that I own my own business and property.
