We had the good fortune of connecting with Ushma Desai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ushma, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Weddings are a celebration of love, life and so much more and therefore engaging with my clients, understanding their needs and building long lasting relationships with them is very important to me. These are the ultimate pillars of success behind my brand. My experience and expertise in coordinating events; allows my clients to sit back, relax and enjoy their special day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
About 4 months ago I took a major step in my career and resigned from my full time job in the corporate world. This was not an easy decision to make but was long overdue. Why did I resign from a well paid job which gave me a promising future you may ask? I did so to challenge myself, chase my dreams and pursue my vision of becoming a full-time “Wedding Planner”. Little did I know that the small company I started back in 2010 will become my biggest pride and joy, 12 years later. Juggling between household responsibilities, running a business and raising a child is never easy; but the journey has been very fulfilling and extremely gratifying. I absolutely love what I do, so nothing brings me more joy than meeting and exceeding my clients expectations by turning their dreams into reality. What truly sets us apart is our ability to go the extra mile and treat our clients like our own extended family.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is a very culturally rich city. There’s a ton of options to drink, dine and shop. I’d love to spend an afternoon at Centennial Park, maybe go to the GA Aquarium or World of Coca-Cola, grab a few drinks at the SunDial restaurant and enjoy spectacular views of the city during sunset and then head over to dinner at a nearby restaurant – (tons of good options nearby). We would end the night at the Glenn Hotel with rooftop views of the city!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A book that changed my life was the “Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. It taught me to believe in the power of manifestation. It was gifted to me by my dear aunt when I was going through a very rough patch in my life. I learnt the importance of the “attract-believe-recieve” mantra and apply it to my daily life since then. I also owe my success to my dear friends and family for always encouraging me, supporting me and motivating me.
