We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyneka Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyneka, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is staying focused and putting in the work to achieve my goals. I first learned the value of hard work back in college while studying for my accounting degree. While my friends were out having fun, taking trips, and enjoying their free time, I often found myself staying in, hitting the books, and working on assignments. It wasn’t always easy—there were plenty of times I wanted to join them—but I knew that investing in my education was crucial for my future.

Looking back, those late nights and sacrificed weekends were worth it. Everything I have now is a result of that dedication and persistence. I’ve realized that success doesn’t come from shortcuts; it’s about consistently showing up and doing what needs to be done, even when it’s tempting to take the easy way out.

What should our readers know about your business?
Transform My Finances is a personal finance consulting firm that specializes in creating personalized, step-by-step action plans to help individuals achieve their financial goals. Whether it’s managing money better, getting out of debt, building savings, or improving credit, I meet people where they are and provide clear steps to help them reach their goals. Alongside my 1:1 services, I offer free resources, eBooks, and courses online for anyone to take advantage of.

Right now, I’m most proud of the Transform My Finances budget planner. I created this planner to help people get organized with their finances and create a spending plan that works for them. After years of talking to individuals about their finances, I’ve realized that most people are stressed and overwhelmed because they lack organization, a plan, and a starting point. This planner will help more people than I could ever reach individually. It’s packed with strategies to help them create a budget, pay down debt, and even boost their credit scores. I’ve poured my personal experiences and the insights I’ve gained from working with clients into this planner, designing it with our customers in mind.

The financial worksheets and sections are strategically placed to guide users step-by-step through their financial journey. From setting goals and calculating net worth to creating monthly spending plans, completing fun savings challenges, and creating a debt repayment plan, this planner has it all. It’s like having me there with them, holding their hand throughout the process. This all-in-one planner is the accountability partner they never knew they needed!

My main goal is to provide clients with the tools they need to improve their overall financial wellness without giving up the things they love and enjoy.

I started this business because I realized there are a lot of people like me who lack basic financial literacy and knowledge. Like most people, I did not grow up with financial literacy being taught in my school or my household. I struggled with money for a long time. With no one to guide me, I taught myself how to get out of debt and manage my money better. I read financial books and articles, attended seminars, and listened to financial podcasts. This discipline helped me get out of debt, increase my credit score, and start saving for the future. It was an amazing feeling to finally take control of my finances!

Once I saw the positive changes in my life, I started sharing my knowledge with friends and family. I loved helping people resolve their money problems and was eager to share everything I learned. Many people I met made decent money but had nothing to show for it. They were living paycheck to paycheck and missing out on life simply because they couldn’t afford it. I wanted to change that. I wanted to help people get out of debt, manage their money better, and reach their financial goals while also providing financial literacy to improve their relationship with money. And that’s when Transform My Finances was born.

Recently, I’ve started working with business owners to help them properly track their business finances and stay organized. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting, I teach them basic bookkeeping tasks and strategies to stay organized and on their accountant’s good side.

Building this business hasn’t been easy. Entrepreneurship is hard, but what keeps me going is remembering the big picture and why I started. My big picture is time and financial freedom. I want to work from anywhere in the world and live life on my terms. I want to set my children up for success in this ever-changing economy we well give back to my community and be a blessing to others.

Getting to where I am today in business wasn’t easy. It involved countless late nights, moments of doubt, and overcoming numerous obstacles. One of the biggest challenges was (and still is) balancing my entrepreneurship and parenting. There were times when I felt overwhelmed, but I pushed through by staying focused on my goals and remembering why I started this journey.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is to prioritize my mental health. Sometimes, I give myself permission to take a break and rest my mind and body for a few days. This rejuvenation helps me show up better for my business and my family.

Just seeing how far I’ve come and the impact I’ve made in my community keeps me going. Seeing the positive results and hearing the feedback from satisfied clients makes all the hard work worth it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The biggest and loudest shoutout goes to my mom! She has been by my side through all the ups and downs. She believed in me from the very beginning and has been my rock through it all. My mom watched my daughter once a week for seven years while I studied for my three college degrees. She’s also my number one investor in my business (I promise I’ll pay you back, Mom!) and has always been there to listen when I needed to vent about the challenges of entrepreneurship, parenting, and life in general.

My mom has been my biggest supporter, and I truly appreciate everything she has done for me. There are many other people who have been there for me, but my mom has been my constant source of strength and support. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.
