Meet Tunji Ajigbeda

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tunji Ajigbeda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tunji, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Moneycopilot is a no shame money coaching company focused on helping people and businesses break the financial chains that otherwise hold them back. We are the other side of the coin when compared to financial advisors in that we don’t focus on investing or financial products to grow their nest egg. Through budgeting, credit improvement, and forward thinking about the relationship between personal goals, spending, and saving, we instead focus on helping people and businesses do better with the income and revenue that they already receive. We foster financially stronger consumers and businesses to build stronger communities particularly in cases where people feel like they didn’t get the necessary knowledge to achieve good financial health from prior life experiences to date. The wealthy already get this kind of help in one form or another. Whether it is just to get out of the paycheck to paycheck life or to travel more, Moneycopilot offers solutions so that the middle class can get similar help that is tailored to their challenges.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Moneycopilot helps people who otherwise would not be able to manage their individual or business finances effectively. More than 50% of people in the United States live paycheck to paycheck and don’t have an emergency fund to help them avoid going into significant debt. There are free programs to help people who have gotten in over their heads, but most, if not all, of those programs require that people stop using credit. In addition, all sorts of free education and tools exist to help self-starters, but many people are not self-starters. They didn’t learn it at home or in school and they have not observed good practices in the area of financial health.
The $idekick program that Moneycopilot has developed allows people who need more hand holding to collaborate with a financial health specialist without having to stop the use of credit. In fact, we help clients see their credit scores for the secret weapons that they can be for increasing savings. Bringing expert knowledge, discipline, and accountability to the table, Moneycopilot works with clients to improve their financial health through smarter use of their existing income, expenses, and credit in spite of them not being a self-starter in the area of financial health. Clients often fall into the following categories.
– People who make too much money to qualify for available free programs.
– People who can’t account for where all their money has gone at the end of the month.
– People who incorrectly think that daily money management is a part of the role of a financial advisor when the reality is that financial advisors focus primarily on investment growth and future wealth planning.
– Business owners who struggle with cash flow challenges in their business finances as well as their personal finances.
I’m proud of the fact that a number of clients have felt comfortable enough to provide unsolicited positive reviews about their experiences with Moneycopilot. Trust is the biggest challenge that comes up when dealing with personal finances and we are humbled by the positive feedback that has been received to date. We believe in giving every dollar a purpose. We believe in changing the relationship dynamic our clients have with money and their banks for the better. We believe in making credit into an asset instead of a liability.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week long trip, the following itinerary would be a great experience in my humble opinion.
Day 1 – Go to Jeju Sauna in Duluth to relax and wind down from traveling while getting a little grub. Karaoke at nearby You & Me Karaoke will get the juices flowing for the rest of the evening.
Day 2 – Visit Centennial Olympic Park and then the Georgia Aquarium to chill with the marine life. Chef Rob’s Cafe and Bar would be the next stop for some good Caribbean food.
Day 3 – Visit Stone Mountain to tour the park and possibly hike up the mountain if you’re up for it. Magnolia Room Cafeteria is the next stop for some tasty Southern comfort food.
Day 4 – Visit Duluth Town Green, Parson’s Alley, and Shorty Howell Park for a great small town experience complete with breakfast at Maple Street Biscuit Company, lunch at Sweet Octopus, and dinner at Noona Meat and Seafood.
Day 5 – Visit Six Flags over Georgia for some thrills and a little amusement park fun… Possibly an all day visit that we can end with a late night Waffle House run after all the theme park comfort snacks.
Day 6 – Visit Suwanee Town Center, Town Center on Main, and Suwanee Creek Greenway for another small town experience complete with breakfast at Cafe Amico’s, lunch at Golden Seven Suwanee, and dinner at Suwanee Social.
Day 7 – Visit The Historic Green Manor Restaurant for a traditional southern buffet in Union City before heading to the airport.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course, I want to thank my parents for their impact on my growth path in life. I inherited my foundational skill with numbers from my dad and my desire to help others from my mom. But I would also take this opportunity to highlight the American Association of Daily Money Managers as an organization of ethical professionals who have been doing the necessary work of helping people do better with their finances for years. There are not enough of us and I would encourage anyone to consider joining our ranks so that we can help more people.
