Meet Trence King: One half of the Atlanta rock band Dear Shadow

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trence King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trence, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
We have always had an undying love for music and creativity. We consider ourselves students of the music because we are always striving to learn more about music and how it relates to humanity. We wanted to make something that all people could enjoy. 

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are an alternative/progressive rock band. We’re a band that is big on unity and progression. We are also story enthusiasts. Every work of art we produce will have a message that can be interpreted in many ways. We like to create works of art that people can interpret in their own way. Currently we are working on our sophomore album and we are very excited to share more details with our fans about this project very soon. We are very proud of the world we’ve created through music on this record and we can’t wait to share it. We got to where we are by having a goal. Our goal is always evolving because we are a band who wants progress in the best ways. We have much work to do and we’re ready for it. The journey thus far has not been easy, but we are grateful for this. Without mistakes or hurdles it would be difficult to learn. And we believe knowledge is key. We want the world to know that we hear you. We want the world to know that it’s going to be okay. When people listen to our music, we want them to feel secure in knowing that at every second of the day, there is someone rooting for you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well we’d of course have to go on an excursion through the many different areas of Atlanta. For food we’d have Felini’s pizza aka the best pizza in the world. For fun we could go through little five points and absorb different art and creativity. We could invest time in the many record stores and take several trips down vintage memory lane!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One of the core elements of our band is that we truly understand the impact that an artist’s fans have on success and growth. We would not be where we are or where we plan to go without the love and support of EVERY single person who likes our band in any shape or form. We’d like to shout out every person who has been to a show, liked a photo, spoken with us after a show, gave kind words, bought any music or merchandise, and anyone who simply appreciates what we do. We’re sending a huge shoutout to all our family and friends for believing in us. And an ultra shoutout to Jd’s parents for letting us make noise in their garage all night!
