Meet Tony Ohara | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Ohara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that when pursuing any of the arts whether it be painting, dancing, acting etc. that risk is a huge part of going after those careers. It’s something that we as artist should take into consideration before fully diving in. They definitely call it starving artist for a reason. You have to be prepared for that lifestyle and just remain confident that it won’t be that way forever
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I first got started as a background extra. My pastors daughter was an extra in hunger games and the same casting company handled the divergent series. When insurgent was looking for tattooed people my pastors wife sent me the casting call for it. I got onto set and networked with everyone I could. By the end of the day I found several other casting companies that I would later book with. After a while of doing that and making more connections I decided to start writing and producing my own projects. I made my first project called cabin bound and that started my path of speaking lines. From there I kept moving around Atlanta and continued to grow my resume and the roles have been getting bigger and bigger and hopefully that momentum continues
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably start them off in little 5 points. I think the stores and restaurants In that shopping area are quite unique and fun whether it’s junkmans daughter or the vortex. There is no shortage of interesting people year around in that area. Then I’d take them over to centennial park to check out the cnn center, world of coke and GA aquarium. I’d finish up with the nice views atop Stone Mountain. I feel after seeing all that they would appreciate ga a little more
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was homeless for a few years when I started acting so for me all thanks I have go out to everyone that helped me out with a couch to crash on or introducing me to some new connections that helped move my career forward. No one is an island and everyone needs help once in a while.
