We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Jester and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Thee Chef J LLC was officially established in April 2020. Many individuals, including myself questioned if starting a business during a pandemic would be a great idea. I had to remind myself of the vision that I had and I knew that no matter what storms I would endure, God would strengthen me. What many people did not know was that I had planned to go into business prior to the pandemic however, due to teaching full-time and being a single parent, I was not able to dedicate the time needed to start my business. The pandemic allowed me to refocus and restart what it is that I truly enjoy doing. Serving Foodgasms. As a teacher, I’ve been able to network and meet some pretty amazing people. I began to use my former career as an educator as a platform to promote Thee Chef J.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from other businesses, chef’s, entrepreneurs etc., is my willingness to serve others. I enjoy cooking but serving Foodgasms is an experience that I feel everyone should enjoy. Since the pandemic, many people have lost love ones, jobs/careers, or have experienced mental and/or social deficits. One of my proudest moments as the owner of Thee Chef J LLC, was being able to provide meals to families within my community who may be experiencing hardship. Many people may not know this but I’ve cooked meals for my students and their families for free since I’ve been teaching. This act is what gave me the idea for JestFit Meal Prep; providing healthy meals at an affordable rate. Due to an increase in food cost, trying to provide healthy meals to families has been a challenge. However, providing a variety of meal options monthly, has helped with keeping JestFit Meal Prep feasible with a starting rate of 5 meals for $45. The current pandemic has definitely been deterrent to starting a new business! But I know with God anything is possible! Through the pandemic, I’ve been able to cater more intimate dinners/gatherings due to people not wanting to eat out or restaurants having to close due to COVID-19 rules and regulations. Now that Covid restrictions have been lifted, business is starting to pick back up! I look forward to vending and catering throughout the city of Atlanta.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first place we would have to go is a given! Waffle House! Waffle House is our go to at any time of the day/night especially here in Atlanta. Aside from the infamous Waffle House, we would have to eat at Breakfast at Barney’s! We love to Brunch! Good food and Mimosas is always a good time! Atlanta has various Pop-Up Exhibits that celebrate Black Culture with interactive stations such as Young Black Marketplace or Bonfire Atl during the “nippy” seasons! We definitely would have to spend a day out on the Beltline! Rent some scooters/bikes and enjoy the beautiful scenery as well at stop at some shops and bars as we ride through! One of the hot spots we would visit is Ponce City Market which is a huge market full of small businesses , retail shops, restaurant, and even a a rooftop full of fun games. I would recommend attending at night night to check out the gorgeous city views!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a special shout out to every teacher across the world. This has been a challenging year for all of us and despite every obstacle put before us, we’ve been able to preserve while teaching hybrid during a pandemic. I’d like to give a special Shout Out to Octavia Nichole Sledge! Teacher and owner of CarlosMommyMadeIt. We’ve been best friends for over 20 years now. She continues to promote and support me through all my endeavors! From teaching, coaching, hosting events in the community, and as an entrepreneur. I simply would like to thank her and tell her I love her and support her as well as her business! It’s important to give people their roses while they can still smell them. I’m truly proud of her!
