We had the good fortune of connecting with Tierra London and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tierra, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I started working early. I was 16 years old. My first job was at Walgreens. I remember falling asleep everyday almost in 7th period and my teacher was not used to that. I was a straight A student that was highly attentive and focused. I worked mostly evenings after school and it took toll on my body. I still wanted to be super active in high school, attend all the events, get homework done, hang out with friends, but just couldn’t manage balancing well. Fast work to 11 years later, I have created such a healthy balance, and of course that comes with growth, maturity, time, and wisdom. I actively work full time, manage to stay consistent with a podcast show, a youtube channel. ministry work, plus school. I manage to create a healthy balance with God giving me the grace to do so. I think you just have to find what works for you and do it your way. Everyone has a formula but I figured out what works for me. I still have fun, exercise, and do what I love with discipline.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m in the banking industry by career field, and I started in November of 2015. There was no previous experience or training in any way, I actually met the Branch Manager at my part time job. She recruited me there, and I came in with a desire to grow, evolve, elevate, and be challenged. I was promoted within five months of being with the company. Was it easy? Absolutely not. I experienced a lot of challenges, but it was something God knew I could handle. Within my career in the banking field, I’ve grown a lot, seen a lot. I’ve changed a whole lot. I was a baby when I started my career, and I’ve truly come into womanhood. I’ve learned valuable lessons in almost six years, although I’ve recently transitioned to a new company. It’s simple: do what you’re called to do, show up everyday with a positive attitude, extend grace to everyone, be the light, and be the best at what you do. That’s my mind frame now.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a bit on the extra side, lol! Now are we talking my city? Or somewhere else? I love to have fun and plus I know my best friend. We’re both very detailed and just a tad bit over the top sometimes sooooo, I would create an itinerary for the week. We’d start off with facials, mani’s, pedi’s, and a full body massage. We’d go to a really cute brunch place, because we love brunch. After that, we’d spend a whole entire day, maybe two days shopping (inserts side eye emoji)… women love to shop. We’d definitely visit the beach (post covid) and soak up the sun. I would make us reservations to the most fancy restaurants in the city, get dressed up, get our makeup done and eat some amazing food and have a great convo about life. On the last day, we would just explore the city and go sightseeing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think community is so important. I have to honestly be as transparent and encouraging as I possibly know how. Every season of my life has been intentionally hand crafted by God, even when I couldn’t see it. I’ve had very amazing people to help shape and mold me into who I’ve become. I’m big on supporting, loving, encouraging, and mentoring those who God has assigned to my life, but I couldn’t first give something I’ve never received first. I have amazing sisters, friends, spiritual parents, a great mentor, and people who have pushed, encouraged, and motivated me to keep going when times were not always easy.I would like to shout out those who have supported me through my highs, encouraged me through my lows, and prayed with me through it all. I didn’t get here by myself, and although I’m just getting started, I know God is about to do amazing things.
