We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatianna Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tatianna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
From a young age, since middle school to be more exact I’ve always had aspirations of being self sufficient. I would craft my own hair bows and accessories, from there the hobby became more of a passion that I really sought out to become my permanent reality. On top of that I eventually saw the potential of this little passion of mine to become an entrepreneurial right of passage, fueling my interest in starting my own business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Twas’ certainly not any easy road! And today persists to be. Yet any great story is not one unless it is filled with great tales of hardship but, then I’d course triumph in the end. The courage to do something with no cheerleaders is definitely a daunting task. Especially when no one in your circle has achieved that. It feels almost unattainable. Yet once the first steps are taken to get to that goal, if feels a little less harder and a bit more real as far as getting to the goal. It also it so affirming seeing the little victories in the initial courage to take those first steps. It’s a reminder in those times where it’s so overly frustrating that there was a moment where I couldn’t even imagine being where I am now. It’s the fire to keep my dreams ablaze.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop is definitely little Five Points for sure. I support the community anytime I get the chance. It’s also such a fun area in the sense of the variety of things to see and places to eat. The feel of the area is also down to earth but still a trendy vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely like to highlight a high school teacher of mine that I had. I was always more of the “quiet” kid in school and while I didn’t necessarily excel in my studies, I wasn’t the worst student either. Just sub par. In that, I was never noticed for anything much really. Just another student in the halls like everyone else. However at the end of the year this particular teacher had given us all popsicles with attributes she would describe us by. I for sure thought mine would say something like “kind” or “agreeable”… instead when I got mine it said “driven”, and she made it a point to let me know before I left her classroom that she was keeping a steady eye on me and could see all my hard work. It nearly brought a tear to my eye and from then on, I aspired to always follow my dreams despite lack or applause or support from those you expect it. Ms.Kimberly-Sambol is her name, she is a teacher at Robert E. Lee high school in Jacksonville, Fl. I’m not sure if she is still teaching there but I would like her to know that moment has made a huge imapct in my life and I will never forget it.
