Meet Sydney Daniel

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Sydney Daniel again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.
Sydney, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
Hello, my name is Sydney Daniel and I am a visual artist based in Roswell, Georgia, I make large scale abstract paintings primarily and I work out of my home studio. I received my BFA from Georgia State University in 2013 and my MFA from the University of Georgia in 2019. I typically use ink staining in my paintings as a jumping off point for my painting process. I do commissions and local group exhibitions on a regular basis.
Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
Since we last spoke I have been continuing to paint and take on projects. I was in the group exhibition “Little Things” at the Swan Coach House Gallery this past fall. I also did an artist residency at the Elf School of the Arts in Haynesville, NC which provided some much needed time to focus on painting. I work from my home studio and in addition to being a working visual artist, I also take care of my grandfather full time.
We also want to give folks a chance to get to know you a bit better so we’ve prepared a fun lightning round of questions. Ready?
