Hi Steph, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I have several quotes and affirmations that I LOVE…

“Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed!” – This has helped when I wanted something and was afraid to ask. It also helps when I look at my pricing. If you don’t vocalize your wants or requirements, you won’t get them.

“We are our worst critic.” – This comes up a lot with the dancers I work with. They are constantly picking apart their abilities or dance videos. We have to stop picking ourselves apart and being so hard on ourselves. Dance is a hobby for most and it should be fun without pressure.

“There are people with less talent than you making more than you.” – In the dance industry, it is easy to 2nd guess your ability and qualifications. Imposter syndrome is real. This is a reminder that I can do this. I am enough. I am qualified. I have a gift to share. This quote fuels me to keep pushing and keep working.

“They criticized Jesus.” – This has been great for posting and being more active on social media to support the brand. They criticized Jesus so if he isn’t immune from criticism then how can I be immune? People are ALWAYS going to have good and bad things to say no matter what you do. It’s a part of being public and making yourself vulnerable. This pushes me to post without picking my posts apart.

“Comparison is the thief of Joy.” – With social media, it is easy to compare yourself to others. Comparison is truly the thief of joy. I use this when I see myself looking at social media accounts and starting to compare…because I am human. Then I remind myself to stay in my lane, drink my wine, and mind my business!! I am unique and there is beauty in that.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my dance mentor, you know who you are, for believing in me. I went from being your student to teaching class and running a Dance Party Business. (Girl’s Night Out, Bachelorette, or Birthdays) I would have NEVER even considered teaching until you allowed me to sub for your class. You saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. Thank you for being a constant sounding board and cheerleader.

Also want to thank my dance studio, Dance 101, for allowing me to share my gifts. My husband for being patient with my busy schedule and my family for believing in me.
