We had the good fortune of connecting with Spencer Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Spencer, what’s your definition for success?
Left Hand HotDog has a couple definitive goals, and once we accomplish those that’ll be success for us. Those goals are first to make an album and take it on tour! We are on track to have that done by October. With that, we will tour it more, make another record, start looking for festivals. Second, if we are out here playing ska and people are coming out to the shows, dancing, having a good time, then that also qualifies as success. We want the ska scene in Atlanta to be bigger bigger and further reaching. Every time we go out the crowd and scene is getting bigger, to us that is success!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a ska band. A 7 piece group with one goal when we go out to perform: HAVE FUN. We are gonna dance and groove out here like nobody’s business and when you see us you’ll be dancing and grooving too! Almost all of us are lifelong musicians so theres a lot of work and experience gone into this. Nothing worth doing is easy and Left Hand HotDog is worth it. The biggest thing you gotta keep in mind is be constant, rehearse, and always have something on the horizon to work towards.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Theres a lot in the city but some of my favorite spots to eat are Victory, Elmyrs, and The Earl. Of course ya gotta catch a concert, or several, and Star Bar is a winner, Boggs is a great spot, and Variety Playhouse might be my favorite venue in the city. Go walk on the Beltline and vibe out at the park. Its hot out here so East Palisades on the Chattahoochee is the perfect spot to chill out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my wife Noelle. I wanted to start a ska band for a while and she said do it, so here I am doing it. Also Curtis, our guitarist who started this thing with me. But most of all to my bandmates and their loved ones, without their dedication and support there would be no Left Hand HotDog. It takes time and energy away from other parts of life to dedicate yourself to a band. They are much appreciated.
