We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonya Cannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sonya, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I first started my business it was trial and error. It was the hardest thing I had ever done. I wasn’t sure how to go about doing anything. I was all over the place and expecting everything to happen right away, and it did not happen the way I wanted. I’m an artist and I love art. I just needed to figure out how to make a living out of doing it. After being consistent and practicing my craft, I began to gain clients.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Epifany was not an easy journey for me, and I still have paths I want to follow. The hardest part was really deciding if this was for me. I’m not one to just sit inside the box. I also wasn’t the best at doing makeup either. I really had to work at it. I took make-up courses, and did plenty of research/studying. Additionally, I studied and learned how to take care of the skin under the mask of makeup. This has been a tough road, but I am getting through it. The hardest lesson I had to learn was patience. I always want everything to happen immediately. I used to have a tendency of rushing into things, which resulted into many failures. My brand is growing and expanding. In the cosmetic industry, Epifany will globally be known for specializing in taking care of our clients every cosmetic need through the enhancement of their beauty.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am an adventurous, spontaneous individual. I love trying new things and having peaceful, fun. I tend to use Google in order to find new, interesting places to visit and try out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I have to shout out anybody it would be my family; they are huge supporters. They tell me how great I am, push me to do better, and encourage me to learn new skills in my craft. Also, there is this special woman in my life who made my dream really possible by supporting me through school and supporting my makeup training classes. Without her in my corner I probably wouldn’t be as far along as I am.
