We had the good fortune of connecting with Shkoya Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shkoya, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My mime dance ministry conveys the message of Christ without words . My visual story telling captures attention and resonates with people from all backgrounds . Some of my ministry takes place on various platforms to reach those who may not attend services in person or who may not know Christ at all . Through social media and other platforms I am able to spread the love of Christ while uniting the community through art . My ministry also is a free space for people to feel vulnerable and express what they made to , to help them see and realize that even by following Christ you will experience some heartbreaks ,or some trial and error . But being a Christian helps me to know that whatever I or anyone else experience , that God knows about it , Even though our fleshly thoughts may try to tell us the opposite . ministry refers to serving God with humility and love and It involves fulfilling one’s calling and using one’s gifts and talents for the betterment of the community. Another purpose of my ministry is to paint a real life picture and scenario of real life emotions that we feel during real life situations . I always want to inspire and bring people to know Christ in .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I spread the creative arts whenever God would tell me to do a song and posted it on YouTube. It was not easy . I still had my struggles behind close doors but mime ministry gave me an outlet to communicate with God and encourage others while also encouraging myself. I overcame challenges by trusting in God and through perseverance. The lessons I have learned along the way is to always keep God first . and in everything I do or happens in life to be thankful because someone else’s story is way worse. What I want the world to know about me and my story is that I faced difficulties and I didn’t have a good childhood but God knew best and I turned my pain into purpose in the end. . I am driven despite what I may have gone through in the past . I use my pain for Gods purpose at the end of the day. One of my accomplishments is reaching almost 18,000 people on my YouTube and gaining them as followers . God equips me on what to minister to and speak on when the time is right , I love that I can reach many people by being transparent about any given life situation. My main goal is to uplift, inspire , and motivate . Because many people suffer in silence and have this perception that no one understands but that is not true , God does , And that’s what i show them .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In the four years that I have been here I would take them to southern fire kitchen . They have some good food and the music is good . I always strive to be the life of the room because you never know what people go through behind closed doors . So many people hide their pain with a smile or try to cope in unhealthy ways . Dancing is my passion and I do it uplift people . Whether I am dancing to Michael Jackson or A Christian Song .
Southern fire kitchen has a variety of music and they allow you to just authentically be yourself and have fun . Another spot I can take them to is ” Girl Diver” restaurant . It has a seafood menu and I love seafood . And at that spot as well , I can be me and free and eat and dance and have fun and to me that’s what I love .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Church outside the church and my mom who has encouraged me throughout my journey of mime ministry .
