We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelly Gudim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelly, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Constantly learning and trying to do/be better than last time.  Beauty is always evolving so it’s imperative to keep learning! It can be easy to get stuck doing the same thing over and over with a client you’ve had for years, so staying up with trends keeps things fresh for you and your client.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a stylist for 21 yrs and over those years I can almost say I have literally done it all! I have worked in a large corporate salon, I have set up shop in my clients kitchens, and I have worked as a personal assistant to a leading Atlanta hairdresser. I’m now working out of my private studio in historic downtown Buford and couldn’t be happier! This past fall I became certified as an Invisible Bead Extensions®️ specialist and  I am loving it! This method of extensions is incredibly comfortable, realistic, and 100% focused on scalp health.  I have so much fun doing these transformations and my clients are becoming obsessed with them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely spend mornings walking around the lake at Little Mulberry Park in Dacula, best way to start the day! There would be day trips to the north Georgia wineries, afternoons relaxing on lake Lanier and evenings hitting up all the new amazing restaurants in downtown Sugar Hill!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a lot of my success to my mentor and friend Adam Stewart. I spent 4 years working alongside him as his personal assistant and right hand gal. I learned so much about hair, being your own boss and putting in the work to make your dreams come true! Adam, you are unforgettable and I will always cherish our time together. And I certainly wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my OG clients that have been with me from the very start! We have been in several salons and had years of kitchen hair together…. I love you guys so much! Thank you for being by my side through it all.
