We had the good fortune of connecting with She Mack and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi She, what is the most important factor behind your success?
During my journey as makeup artist, I have known to believe that client relationships and networking are fundamental to my success. Building strong, personal relationships with clients is essential. When I work with someone, it’s not just about applying a little glam here and a little shimmer there, it’s about understanding their needs and preferences.

I see the same thing when networking in the industry — it’s all about building connections through good communication and trust. Keeping these relationships strong is an ongoing process, especially since having an online presence is just as important nowadays. Social media, a professional website, and online portfolios are key for reaching more people because they show off my skills to a wider audience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up as a tactile learner, I always gravitated towards art that stood out to me. Now that I am an artist myself, my appreciation for maximalist art has grown. I love the boldness and the complexity it offers. Maximalism allows me to express myself fully, without any constraints. It’s about embracing abundance and making a statement through abstract designs and vibrant colors.

This style is major to me because art is increasingly leaning towards minimalism, and vibrancy is becoming a lost art. This trend has extended to makeup, where basic soft glam looks with just lashes, neutral eyeshadow, a touch of powder, and a little lip gloss have become the go-to service!

Clients access a basic everyday look and how to achieve those techniques through my online tutorials. However, I deeply appreciate the clients who embrace my maximalist concepts in person, as these experiences fueled me to express myself authentically and showcase my artistic vision in its purest form.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well the best experience of Atlanta will always be the variety of food choices, and before we try anything else it would have to be some Southern comfort food :
• Gutbusters in the morning for breakfast, because there’s no where else you can get a bang for your buck and they still are generous with their portions and make their food with love.
• Afterward, we’d head to Moreland Ave and do some thrifting because one thing is for sure, I love to pop out with an exclusive look!
• We would head to the mall, any mall would do but if I have to choose it would be Cumberland or Perimeter and go heels shopping because that’s the best place to look for some cute mule action!
• Dinner at Virgil’s In College Park because they got the best cajun food I’ve had so far and amazing hospitality, but the drinks themselves are another story! Best cocktail mixes that will creep up on you!
• Stand up has always been one of my go to activities, so the Comedy Theater is a hot spot because some of the biggest names of comedy has been through there and showed out!
• Of course, being a content girly, a good selfie museum is always a great idea to catch my angles. There’s so many staples and even pop up selfie friendly places out here that I would not be able to choose just one.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely, I’d love to show my appreciation for my initial step into the beauty industry which was attending beauty expos. Seeing the models getting their makeup done was one of the aspects that ignited my passion for doing makeup. It was inspiring to watch the creativity and skill involved, and it really fueled my desire to pursue this profession.

Another major influence in my journey has been working with beauty stores like Sephora and Ulta. These experiences were significant in providing the foundation I needed to further develop my skills and build my confidence as a makeup artist.
