We had the good fortune of connecting with Sekinah Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sekinah, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The decision to start my business was about more than just making money. Besides working for myself, it was also important for me to show my children how to create goals for themselves and follow their dreams. I don’t want them to adhere to the blueprint passed down to me, spending the majority of life fulfilling someone else’s dream.

It also became a way for me to cope with and heal from the effects of domestic violence. I needed to prove to myself that I am a woman of value. Seeing me manage my business, as well as begin my journey of becoming an author has inspired my sons to study themselves to discover their skills, talents and passion.

Should I have nothing material or monetary to leave them, they will at least have the knowledge it will take to live successful and prosperous lives, as well knowing the importance of valuing themselves.

What should our readers know about your business?
Lip Junkiez lip gloss and balm are infused with CBD extract. The extract nourishes and has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe chapped skin. Perfect for sealing in moisture in your lips, preventing them from becoming dry or flaky, by acting as an antibacterial and an antioxidant. I believe this is what sets us apart from most lip gloss retailers. What was most exciting was, the journey I had to take to get here, countless hours of research. Not one part of this process was easy, but enjoying what I do was the biggest help to get over the bumps.

When the world learns of my name, I want them to know, a rose really can grow from concrete. Purposed to encourage, inspire others and remind them of their worth.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We all need to find our “tribe” of people who can relate to what we’ve been through, where we are in life and where we’re going.

A multitude of thanks goes to my four amazing sons, Ty, DJ, Zion and Jayden for inspiring and supporting me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of the love, support and encouragement from my literary family, NK Tribe Called Success.

Also a big thank you to Rashona Clark-Flowers at Beauty Is She Designs.
