Meet Sean Banks | CEO – Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well the process actually started for me early while attending Osborne high school in Marietta, Ga. I already had it set in my mind that I was intent on playing professional basketball but I knew eventually I would need something to fall back on that I truly enjoyed doing. It wasn’t until I took a Mass Media class my freshman year did I figure out what it actually would be. Most students took the class just to get an easy A but once I got involved in the school’s video year book I knew I found my second love. Producing, directing, filming and editing content for the video year book just came naturally for me and I was hooked. Once I was in college at Florida Memorial University I took the next best thing to film since it wasn’t available, which was Communication Broadcast. During college years my professor got me interning at PBS Channel 2 / Comtel in North Miami with my mentor Bernard Cottle. My time with him got me to see a whole other side of the industry. I also, got to get my hands dirty in the studio learning multiple skills like being a stage manager, cameraman, lighting assist, grip and etc. Working on those in-house productions just fueled the flame even more. So once I was done playing professional in Italy I went back to Miami and got to work. In 2015, I started Banks Elite Inc. with the intent of being able provide myself a way to earn reliable income with no limitations while doing what I love to do.

What should our readers know about your business?
Banks Elite is a professional team of experienced, producers, writers, editors and media relations creatives that understand every aspect of media. We provide our services in studio or remotely 24/7. Our expertise includes content creation, website design, social media management, music videos, corporate story commercials, documentaries, full featured films, podcast, live stream events & more. What set us apart is our hand picked team of the industries finest that take our clients vision and makes into mind blowing visual representations. I’m personally proud of every project we’ve been apart of. We’ve been blessed to work with a-lot of great companies and celebrities ranging from N.O.R.E of the ‘Drink Champs podcast’ to covering events for Serena Williams to having T.I. Harris narrating for a documentary. Getting to this point now after relocating from Miami to Atlanta took a lot of persistence and discipline. It definitely was not easy but I took every failure as a lesson. Every client I didn’t close or even the ones that went great all taught me something different every project. Then I would just tweak things and I was always seeking to perfect my craft. Learning as much as I can whether from my mentor, on my own by reading or my own mistakes. The biggest lesson I’ve learn whether in sports or business is if you want something bad enough you can get it. You just have to be determined, relentless and never stop trying to pursue your goal. Since a young boy in Bad News (Newport News,Va) I knew I wanted to play college and pro sports. I walked on and earned scholarships at every school I played for. That took me going to two junior colleges before ending up at Florida Memorial University a NAIA school. The likely hood of me turning pro was highly unlikely. But I stayed persistent, perfected my craft and eventually an opportunity was given to me in Italy. That was when I knew I could honestly do anything. I just need to learn how to bring that same discipline, structure and mentality over to the business side. I know I’ve used this word a number of times in this passage but I truly believe it represents me and my approach to my business. RELENTLESS. I don’t stop and neither will my team it’s the culture of Banks Elite.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well one thing about me is I low key love hosting but I don’t. It’s a weird love-hate relationship. But if my best friend was in town we would definitely turn up. Monday, since I live out in Douglasville we would probably spend that first day getting caught up at the house. Sit out by the pool and have drinks until dinner. For dinner we would go Gabe’s in downtown Douglasville. Their drinks and fusion menu is fuego. Get the white chocolate bread pudding, trust me. Later that night we would go see my brother Lil Mag, at Magic City. Probably end up eating again, you can’t say no to those Lemon Pepper Lou Will wings. Tuesday, we would hang down in the city hitting the Aquarium, Centennial Park, and the MLK historic site. Those are like the mandatory spots you have to see if you come to Atlanta period. Later that evening we’d go eat at 2chainz spot Escobar. Wednesday, Oh we at Six Flags thee entire day. Got to hit the park while it’s dead in the middle of the week so we can ride all the rides with no wait multiple times. Since we over that side anyways we definitely would have to grab some catfish bites or catfish from Ameen’s off MLK blvd. Thursday, afternoon we at Andrettis over in my stomping grounds Marietta. We’d do La Carreta for dinner since it’s right across the street. I got to get my Colombian cuisine in and their drinks always hitting. Friday, you got to hit Lenox and Phipps. Give my guest sometime to shop and pick up some things for back home. After the mall we would end up at top golf to relax and wind down from all that walking. Later that night we would step out to Whiskey Mistress. Saturday, I’d take him to a Braves game at the Battery. We’d stay out there after the game as well. Hop around to different venues like Punch bowl and Burn Lounge. Sunday, We would do brunch in Buckhead at my favorite spot Taverna. Sit out front sipping mimosas and eating the salmon eggs Benedict. After that we could walk through the Buckhead shops for any last minute pick ups. Then it would be back to the house for me and I’d probably be ready for them to go at this point.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All the glory I give to God first always in all that I do. It’s under his guidance that has allow me the success and ability to do the things I’ve done in this life. Shoutout to my mother, Victoria Banks, she is my number one fan, motivator and supporter. Her strength and determination raising my two siblings and myself alone is something I’ve always admired since a child. Thanks to her for always setting the right examples, always ready to help others and for pushing me to follow my dreams. Whether in sports or in business she’s always been a solid pillar in my corner and the loudest one in the stands. I owe her my life and more. I”m thankful daily for having such a strong, brilliant wonderful mother, I love you! Secondly, I would like to shoutout my mentor, Bernard Cottle. He’s always been someone I can depend on for real life and business advice. His mentorship is one of the best things to happen in my life. He’s definitely someone that has influenced the way I approach my business, community and life. I recently brought him on board as my executive director of business development & marketing his 20 plus years in the industry will be a valuable asset but his character, integrity and our relationship is unmeasurable.
