Meet Sarah Reusch | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Reusch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose an artistic career because it brings me joy and fulfillment. I love experimenting with color, textures, and unconventional methods. I create new pieces, photograph and edit the images of each completed piece, manage a website, work on marketing strategies and collaborate with others. This variety keeps the work exciting as each day brings new challenges and opportunities. When I am in my studio the distractions of the outside world fade away, creating a peaceful space for my thoughts and ideas to thrive. In those moments I can fully immerse myself in my passion and let my imagination flow freely.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an artist who loves to push the boundaries of traditional mediums by experimenting with acrylic paint, pastels, pencil, and various additives. My work often combines abstract styles with mixed media techniques, resulting in pieces that not only engage the eye but also invite tactile exploration. I enjoy incorporating three-dimensional elements into my pieces, which adds a whimsical, interactive dimension. For me, art is about creating a multi-sensory experience that encourages people to see the world in new and imaginative ways.
I’ve grown both personally and artistically over the past few years. The journey hasn’t always been easy. Through consistent hard work and stepping out of my comfort zone, I’ve been able to evolve as an artist and business owner. A big part of my growth has come from embracing risks and allowing myself to experiment—whether it’s with new mediums, techniques, or concepts. Rather than faltering when things don’t go as planned, I focus on altering my approach, staying flexible, and adjusting my mindset. I’ve also learned the importance of practicing patience instead of simply pushing forward with persistence. Art, like life, has its own pace, and I’ve found that trusting the process, even in difficult moments, often leads to unexpected breakthroughs. Trial and error has been a valuable tool in my creative process, and it’s allowed me to discover new ways to bring my visions to life. The biggest lesson I’ve learned as a small business owner is the importance of time management. By prioritizing my tasks and setting clear deadlines, I’ve been able to stay organized and keep things running smoothly. One thing I’d like the world to know is that it’s never too late to start something new. Bringing a vision to life is achievable with dedication, hard work, and sometimes sacrifices. While the journey can be challenging, the sense of fulfillment that comes from doing what you love and seeing your ideas take shape is incredibly rewarding.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a best friend visiting Atlanta, I’d take them to places like The Works in Upper Westside, Ponce City Market, and the Beltline. These places have unique features and attractions with everything from a food hall, restaurants and breweries to shopping, arcade games and a dog park. A weekend festival is a must whether an art, music, food and beverage, film or cultural festival. Some other places we would visit include Georgia Aquarium, High Museum, Fernbank, Zoo Atlanta, Botanical Gardens and The Fox Theatre. We would visit a local farmers market to gather fresh ingredients for a night of cooking. We would dine at some of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta for food and/or atmosphere- La Grotta, Barcelona, Antico, Houston’s, Souper Jenny and Cafe at Pharr. Lastly, we would take a ride on SkyView Atlanta for panoramic views of the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people I would love to recognize. First and foremost I want to express my deep gratitude to my family- for their unwavering love and support. They have encouraged me through every challenge and triumph helping me to grow and succeed. A special shoutout to my late grandmother who introduced me to the “art world” early on. She had a unique talent for capturing beauty in everyday moments. Her passion for photography inspired me deeply and shaped my appreciation for creativity. A shoutout to my friends and family friends. Women For Women (W4W) group- work is more fun collaborating with creatives. Lastly, thank you to my art teachers who taught me the fundamental art skills and mixed media techniques. Gratitude and love to each of you!
