We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Joy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
A longtime friend said something to me that changed my perspective in many things. This friend said: “love and success is not for cowards.” This really shifted my mind and gave and continues to give me a boost whenever I face challenges. There is a risk of failure, for sure; and this fear of failure is what keeps us in the safe zone, in the comfort zone and can sometimes even paralyze us.

Taking on short term rentals when I started was definitely a risk; I had experience in real estate but taking on this new world at the time came with its blend of risks; risks that would impact not just myself, but those close to me. And with that in mind, and countless hours of training and lots of trial and error, I learned the importance of planning and completing thorough analysis so that the risks I would take, would be calculated risks. Risks that had highest probability of success. Risk taking is not something we like or even want, as this is a high stress factor however once we are able to weigh it out, we are able stop, look back and appreciate the growth and success that comes from taking calculated risks.

I’ve learned throughout the years that without risk there can be no reward. You never know what the outcome will truly be when starting your business and you never know if it will really be successful but consistency, focus, and hard work is the risk reward for successful entrepreneurship.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
.You cannot visit Atlanta without checking out the Coca Cola World and the Georgia Aquarium.

I’d recommend getting a Atlanta CityPass which will include access to the first two recommendations and also to the CNN Studio Tours, Atlanta Zoo, Center for Civil and Human Rights, Fernbank Museum of Natural History and College Football Hall of Fame.

If you are a Stranger Things or The Walking Dead fan, going to the set tours is a must. You’ll have the opportunity to submerge into the popular series main story highlights and location filming spots.

Atlanta is a great place to experience a wide variety of restaurants. You can visit the Busy Bee Cafe which has been in business for nearly a century and has the city’s best fried chicken along with a variety of other Southern staples.

End your week with some fine dining at Bacchanalia where you can’t miss out on the crab fitters and their Main lobster with caviar and brioche. This place does require reservation, but in case you decide to go last minute you still can, just head to the bar for some cocktails and enjoy the a la carte menu.

Between all this sightseeing and dining, we gotta go unwind and hang out at some of these great spots: The Red Phone Booth and The Garden Room are my go-to places.

The exclusivity of The Red Phone Booth comes with some great cocktails, plenty of cigar options and seating that makes for just good old fashion fun! It’s a great place to unwind! They have a bartender named Leo who, if you’re lucky, you might just get to witness him chop ice blindfolded.

If you want a beautiful place with amazing food and an easy-going ambiance, The Garden Room is the place to go. Located inside the St. Regis hotel, it is beautifully decorated with plants and chandeliers, so you’ll have an opportunity for some great pictures. The dinner menu is simply amazing and you must try the Hot Mess Cocktail, a personal favorite.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout to my mom who taught me to care about other people than just myself and showed me what risk and fight was when she took on her battle with breast cancer.
