We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Sasic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I see ‘risk’ as a challenge. Big goals come with lots of challenges, and approaching them with enthusiasm and the belief that everything will turn out for the best is the key. This mindset allows me to enjoy every moment of my career and makes hard work seem like a favorite hobby I look forward to doing every single day! I also believe that taking calculated risks is important because it allows individuals to step out of their comfort zones and, therefore, see positive changes in their lives. Every time I took a risk, things turned out better than expected.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Looking back at my journey today, I realize it hasn’t been easy, but I love every moment of it! From fashion in high school to industrial design in university, and now interior design, each phase has shaped my unique design perspective. However, painting has always been a passion and due to support from SCAD, it became a part of my career.
I like to describe my interior design approach as ‘holistic luxury,’ blending high-quality materials with an edgy, cinematic flair inspired by fashion runways and emerging trends. All of that is to provide the highest experience for the user.
When it comes to my paintings, they are inspired by the traditional vanitas style, thus, featuring vibrant colors and symbols like flowers and birds, symbolizing life and happiness.
And one of my latest projects that I am very excited about is my video podcast “Redefining Luxury”. It is debuting in April 2024 on all social media platforms. In it, I discuss art and design with fellow creators, exploring styles, trends, and future predictions.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is such a great question! When I came to Atlanta to pursue my Master’s in Interior Design at SCAD, little did I know it would become one of my favorite cities! I’d love to take my friends on a tour of the charming and distinctive streets of Midtown, which are filled with nature. Then, we’d explore cultural hotspots like the SCAD FASH Museum, High Museum, or Ponce City Market. Of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at Buckhead Village for a nice dinner experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to express my gratitude to my best friends, who have always been there for me. Upon arriving in Atlanta to pursue my master’s degree in Interior Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, transitioning from Belgrade, Serbia, Europe, I faced many adjustments in my personal and professional life. Within just a few years, I met amazing people and I’ve received immense support from the industry, and faculty as well whose guidance I’ve cherished. It’s essential to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share similar aspirations; they inspire growth and offer mutual support. I’m also thankful for the support of my family throughout this journey!
