We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara McPhetridge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I never considered myself to be creative or artistic. My husband is a landscape photographer. He got his first camera at age 16. Fast forward over 20 years later and we met on Eharmony. On our third date he stuck a camera in my hand and I was hooked! I’ve always loved working with babies and children so 5 years ago when my niece was pregnant I decided I wanted to try newborn photography. Now I love it. Creativity truly feeds the soul!!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My photography is definitely different than other newborn photographers. I have a very fine art look to what I do. I create a lot of my props in the studio. In 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Just when my business was really getting started I had to put everything on hold. Thank God I have fully recovered and am cancer free. God has given me so many opportunities to witness to others through this. I feel so incredibly blessed.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would visit the mountains for a bit of hiking. The views are amazing and the trees have been stunning this year. We love to eat at Village Tavern, Kani House, Marietta Fish Market and my favorite hometown spot, Four41 South. We would be sure to wander around all the local antique stores and check out all the fudge shops around!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Todd is the only reason I’m in this business today. He showed me the ropes in photography and taught me all I know. He ignited the creative spark in me!!
