We had the good fortune of connecting with Samuel Mancini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samuel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is what my entire career has been about. I think risk is all about self-belief in your capabilities to achieve your dreams. It’s about having the eye of the tiger and being confident in your individuality in this world. I think risk brings out the greatness in us. It builds resilience. It proves how badly you want something and if you’re cut out for it.

There’s not a lot of guarantee in the music business.

I took a risk and moved to Los Angeles to attend a Music School instead of a traditional college. I’ve missed important events in life in order to attend auditions. All with the hope that it would be the “big break” moment in my career. Although these risks didn’t meet my expectations at the time, they have all become a part of my story and musical journey. Every risk I’ve taken has been a part of my growth. I would not be the musician I am today if I hadn’t. Looking back on these risks, I remember how much I prepared. I knew if I practiced my butt off and gave my all in that moment, I would not regret taking the risk regardless of the outcome. My musical career up until now has all been an investment. Which was a risk I was willing to take. My intuition has told me since I was young I was meant to sing and create songs. I’m more excited than ever about the future and I know there’s a lot more risk-taking in store for me.

And as long as you can look back on any risk taken and say you gave it your all, then it was worth it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a musical artist – vocals are my main instrument. I also play the piano and guitar. When I write you will most likely find me at the piano, figuring out chord progressions and making voice memos on my phone with melodic ideas. I gravitate towards Pop/R&B music. As a songwriter, I am very passionate about my thoughts and ideas. It’s very important to think for yourself as an artist. Whatever your creativeness is telling you is usually what’s right. And listening to that first instead of outside opinions is what sets me apart.

I got to where I am today professionally by simply putting myself out there. I chose to be courageous and not afraid of my passion. If there was an audition I wanted to try for, I would go. I would post myself singing online. Every local outlet where I can be heard, I would do it. Eventually, this led to me recording original music and putting that out there. Which then led to more people finding out about me and wanting to help me with my career.

I’m very proud of my work making it onto the Billboard charts. My mixtape “Feed the Fire” debuted on the “Heatseekers” “Emerging Artists” and “Ablum Sales” Charts. My latest single “SOAK” debuted at #7 on the R&B Digital Song Sales Chart and #19 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales Chart. I am most excited about my new music coming out in early 2024. The sound is something fresh and unexpected from me. But at the same time the most authentic feeling. When you hear my new music you will know it is me you are listening to.

I’ve learned to be resilient and fearless. I’ve learned to separate work from personal life. I’ve learned the key to longevity is to always be open to learning more.

I want the world to know that my music comes from the heart. I do it because it is what my spirit tells me to do. I believe in my own ideas and my ability to be great. My hope for others is to keep God’s voice first on their journey and to be unapologetic with their greatness.

The latest single “Friday Freak” will be released on January 5th.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Right now, I’m recording in Pittsburgh, PA – also known as the City of Bridges. So if you’re trying to kick it for a week, we’ve got some ground to cover.

We are gonna hit up a few food and drink spots like Bar Marco, Chengdu Gourmet, Gi Jin, Goodlander Cocktail Brewery, and Jerry’s. For things to do, we’ve got to hit up the Carnegie Museum of Art, hang out in the Strip District, and enjoy the view up Mount Washington. If you’re looking for a thrill, we can go to Kennywood – my favorite rollercoaster is the Phantom’s Revenge. We’ll definitely link up with a few friends for a kickback and play some games – I’ll beat anybody in Scattergories (my pen is crazy). And, you know we have to enjoy some music so we’ll go to Cobra for a DJ set or Con Alma for some live jazz.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give all the glory to God. Everyone that has been placed in my life and helped my career, I thank Him for. I believe I walk with His favor all over me. His divine timing and protection are what remind me that everything will happen for me when it’s meant to. My trust in God over my life is why I continue to pursue a music career. No matter how exhausting it can get, the fire that has been placed in me has never been put out. I have faith that the work I put into my God-given calling will all be worth it.

My parents have been a huge support system throughout my life too. When I was younger, they would take me to auditions locally and nationwide. They would always be in the audience to support me at local talent shows. Their belief in my dreams was evident.

My friend and now manager, Eric West, has been the biggest mentor to me in my career. I’ve learned so much from him about how the business works and how to navigate through it as an artist. I trust him as my manager – not only because of his knowledge but because of his unwavering belief in me as an artist.

Also, my tight circle of friends who have helped me on my projects, not because of what they were getting out of it, but because they saw the vision and supported it. We’ve become a team that I know I’ll always be able to trust.
