We had the good fortune of connecting with Salexia Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Salexia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk are unavoidable. Risk helps build confidence! By taking risks, you give yourself permission to try things out, to learn, to fail, to grow and to explore. You get to test your limits and go beyond what you believed was possible. Taking risk has played a major role in my life/career because I have the mentality now if I don’t do it now, then when will I? Tomorrow is never promised.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
SCP BEAUTY BAR, is my baby! I have put a lot into my business. I am not where I want to be, but trust me I’m almost there! What sets me apart from others. I would say my dedication to help my clients to achieve their skin goals. I love it when my clients listen to the routine I give them. Then when they come back to me I can tell who has been doing their parts.
Hard work, prayer, continuing education got me where I’m at today. It may seem easy, but trust me it’s not! I overcame challenges by believing in myself. Knowing I was capable of anything. I had to put myself out there more. So my potential clients could see me and my work more.
I learned patience along my journey. Learning patience have taught me just because you aren’t fully booked today doesn’t mean you can’t pour into your business. You may not be booked today that’s okay. You can do other things to get you booked up such as marketing yourself pass out business cards, flyers etc. these are the things I tell myself to keep myself sane because becoming a business owner you face different task but most importantly you have to have patience.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am not from Atlanta, I have been here almost 5 years now. Whenever my family/friends come to Atlanta they always call me! I just know it is always something to do in ATLANTA.

Tuesday would be taco Tuesday! We will go to Tacos & Tequilas good food & drinks.
Wednesday would be Ponce City Market The attractions there are kid/ family friendly and intimate for couples. There pretty much everything to do: site see, shop, & eat.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my mom, for creating a BOSS! Also, to my teachers at Esthetics school that taught me everything I need to know to succeed in this career field! Also, to my family and friends who have poured in my business. It’s all love!
