We had the good fortune of connecting with Saeeda StAude and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saeeda, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I feel determination has helped me succeed. Determination has helped me to process the failures and the many no’s that come with running a business. In the beginning of starting my business it was very hard to accept the no’s and failures that are a part of this process. I had to learn a tough lesson that receiving a no is more common than a yes, and it is important to not look upon a failure or a lack of growth as not succeeding. Determination keeps me grounded, humble, and consistently seeking ideas to grow my business. I take a small moment to lament in the challenges that come along, as well as step back sometimes so I can see a clearer picture of the direction I should be headed in.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a Doctorate of Education and I work as an Adult Educator in addition to running a business. I am proud that while I worked on obtaining my Doctorate degree I also started my business. I was able to put a labor of love into my business and my education, which makes the journey for both endeavors all the more special. I will never forget the juggling act that was required to do both and there were many days and nights that I wanted to quit both. However, determination and family support helped me to succeed. I have learned that you are never to old to start from the beginning and to treat everyday like a new adventure. My brand reflects my pride in being a proud woman, a proud African American, and a child of God.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places to visit in the city is the High Museum of Art. I am originally from New York and we have some of the most spectacular museums in New York, so I really enjoyed visiting the High Museum. When I visit the museum it brings about a sense of peace and serenity and it is very chic. I also love to attend basketball games at the Phillips Arena. I have attended a few games for the Atlanta Hawks and quite a few games for the Atlanta Dream. This is probably my favorite way to kick back and enjoy the city of Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first and foremost give credit for my business to God. Without the power of prayer and a humble relationship with God, it would be difficult to do this on most days. He is my peace when things are hectic and the days are long. I can always find a quiet place to gather my thoughts and pray for direction. I also want to give a shoutout to my daughters. They both have supported me from the beginning by offering feedback, great business advice, and educating me on how to navigate social media. My target audience is from a younger generation than myself and they help me to stay in the loop. My 9 year old son acts as my social media editor and my oldest daughter is very business savvy so I often go to her for advice and direction if I am not sure of certain decisions. Family support is important when running a business and I am definitely thankful for my support system.
