We had the good fortune of connecting with Saaghir Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saaghir, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We love how simple it was on what started our business journey. We decided to finally work on a project together with being a couple a lot of times you have a lot of your own separate jobs and activities going on. On thing that the Shut down for the pandemic did was allow us to center back into each other. With deciding to work together we blossomed Elevated Picnics. In the beginning it was all about finding the perfect picnic basket that told spoke on our vibe. We searched high and low for this picnic basket until we found one we loved with all our might. We didn’t care how much it cost we needed this physical object in order to visualize our concept of a Elevated picnic. As soon as we purchased it online we both looked at eachother and said ” well I guess we are really doing this”! The funny part about it is that we don’t even use the picnic basket anymore but still look to it for our inspiration.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Picnics are essential at the world’s leisure. It is a perfect pastime that anyone from Spain, Shanghai, Brazil, can enjoy and you know they have. It’s so worldly and everyone has their perfect picnic items they love to bring. We have learned that people want to cater to the ones they love and enjoy something special every once in a while. This was an easy road once you go down the path of love. How can we turn love into something simple yet creative and we wanted people to just show up kick your shoes off and enjoy the experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Of course you would take your friend to your neighborhood breakfast/brunch spot! One of our favorite places to eat brunch is Folk Art on North Highland & Atlanta Breakfast Club. We take a trip to an iconic rooftop like Clermont Hotels roof. Amazing scene and just relaxing. I would hang out with Hero the Band Based out of atlanta. They are just too cool for school. and end of the day at the 12 social club speakeasy on the roof of ponce city market.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to dedicate our Shoutout to our families. Without the constant support in our dream and just endless mentorship we wouldn’t be as strong willed and encouraged to do half the things we put our mind too. We have a very loving family from near and far. My family being from Haiti & Dominican Republic and Kaneisha family being from Guyana & Barbados we have strong island ties.
