We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan T. Sauers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to do what people said could not be done. I own two businesses and I love variety and thrive on it. My End Resultz Media company owns two monthly positive focused family and community news magazines. It also has a Community Connections TV Show that also comes out as podcast where I interview top community leaders from every sector. My other company is Sauers Consulting Strategies. It helps companies improve their sales and marketing and branding needs. I also do a lot of speaking on these subjects. I also have a radio show Marketing Matters that we record live in the studio and it airs live and later becomes a podcast. It get many thousands of listens for each show. Finally, I like to teach aspiring leaders and am finishing my last two classes in my doctorate of leadership (then dissertation). I started my own business as I love to help people and seek to make the world a better place in doing all of these things.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In writing my second book “Would You Buy from You? Your Brand Makes the Difference… (first was Everyone is in Sales) I realized I do not compete with anyone other than myself. Only I can be me. We do what is right. Our reputation is impeccable. Our handshake and word means something. I never “sell anyone anything” but try to find a fit if both parties want to make something work.. I tell them if there is a fit there is a fit… if not let us part as friends and maybe we can work together in the future. I love encouraging and inspiring people and making them laugh. I poke a lot of fun at myself. I am authentic and real… what you see is what you get. Getting to where I am today has been difficult. It took natural talent, drive, experience, sacrifice, creativity, and wisdom and working very hard each day. I have always had great people working around me. This is so true today. We have an amazing team who I love working with. I tell people in business to “Expect the Unexpected” and to Keep Pushing Forward. Behind every obstacle lies an opportunity. My brand is doing the right thing no matter what. And, also when I or we make a mistake we own that and make it right. Nobody is perfect and we do the best we can to help our clients in any way possible. And to make every audience in speaking, magazines in the community, listeners of my shows… lives better. There are no shortcuts to success. If you do not know what to do then do the next right thing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t know. I would definitively play some golf and if allowed go see a sporting event. If not grab a great meal and a beer and watch some sports or catch a great movie.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Let us start with mentors. I have had a number of people in my life from an early age that saw potential in me. High school, college, fraternity, bosses, pastors, successful business men and more, They saw it long before I did. If you were part of my story you know who you are. I have worked to pay this forward to coaching and mentoring anyone I can or taking a chance on someone… the way people did for me. I was involved for years in running a printing company with my father. I learned a lot of things from him and he pushed me hard to grow. Saying that, I also saw a lot of things in such a role I would do differently as well. And, I do that today.. I blend the best of both. The experiences were great. My wife has been my bedrock. She saw something in me (when we started dating in college) that I did not see yet. Seems like a common theme huh? She has always believed in me and was my greatest supporter in starting two companies with three young kids (at the time) and next to nothing in savings. I could not have done it or without her love and support and extra effort, My three daughters are amazing and have been so supportive in who they kiddingly call “Ryan T. Sauers” and try to understand what my “job” even is.
In summary, I love the various things I do. I get to help people better their lives and also solve their problems. For me, it’s all about building great relationships. This is what makes all the hard work worth it.
