We had the good fortune of connecting with GREER BAKER and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi GREER, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Uptown Washington D.C. with influences from the surrounding PG county area. Growing up in the city was an experience that can’t be duplicated anywhere in the world. I experienced so many different cultures in a place that breeds talented creatives that it was inevitable for me to be a part of it. From the food scene being one of the most diverse in the nation all the way to being the originators of Go-Go music, a genre that is a fusion of hip hop, jazz, blues & rock&roll, DC’s energy runs deep in my veins and will forever be a part of my story.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
On a professional level, I’m grateful to be gifted with the ability to be multi-faceted. It has helped me produce, direct, & host creative spaces for artists to flourish in their artistry! I’ve created safe spaces for vendors, dancers, singers, rappers, DJs, journalists, photographers, producers, painters & even promoters! Getting where I am now was nothing easy to do. Being a black woman starting from scratch in the entertainment industry is extremely hard because everyone is focused on elevating themselves which is exactly why I founded CODE: Legend Productions Live. The purpose of my company is to extend outreach & build audiences while developing the artist into their best self!
Along the journey, I’ve made many mistakes & have faced challenges that any founder could understand – website malfunctions, budget adjustments, late nights of editing, & barter system work just to name a few. Whether it be financial, mental, or professional I have dealt with the roller coaster of having my own company but I’m proud of every step we’ve taken to become the legendary production company we are today

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When in the ATL, you have to go to Puttshack for your mini golf fix! Phipps Plaza for the shopping addiction! Politan Row for a gourmet food court, try Pretty Little Taco! STK or the Sundial for your high end night out. Gusto or Blaze Pizza for an every day hunger satisfaction. Gold Room or Escobar for a fun club night! Finao Fit for a crazy workout, ask for Ken! Stay at The Starling in Midtown or the W Downtown

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Damn, I wish the list wasn’t as extensive as it is but here we go! To God: I am nothing without you, thank you.
To my family: thank you for believing in my star shine & being my guiding village through my journey. Every dream I have continues to blossom because of your belief.
To my friends: y’all know who you are & I would be nothing without your support. Thank you a million & one different ways for being here for my journey.
To every person that put me in position to elevate, I can’t wait to make you all proud. I promise to stay true to me & push out excellence every chance I get.
Special shout-out to CODE: Legend Productions Live, my undying love is to you
