Meet Ryan Crum | Earthling

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Crum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To be completely honest, I was angry. I was laid off in January 2022, and even though I didn’t love my job, it made me feel very disposable. I told myself that I never wanted to feel that way again and I suddenly went from feeling angry to feeling inspired. I was already thinking about cleaning cars in my building as a side hustle while working, and now I had the opportunity to go all in and see what was possible. After a month of planning and preparation, Crum’s Mobile Wash and Wax was born.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Crum’s Mobile Wash and Wax is a Mobile detailing service that offers professional high end detailing, paint correction, ceramic coatings, and more.

To me, this business is much more than just a car cleaning service. It’s a representation of freedom, hard work, and the American dream. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new. The challenges that break you down are opportunities for introspection. This business has taught me that you are the only one in control of your fate. You are the only person who can change your mindset. Overcoming challenges is the only way to grow as a person.

I’ve also learned that the world is a good place. Complete strangers will take care of you like you’re a part of their family. One thing I take pride in is genuinely having a friendship with every one of my clients. Again, It’s much more than just cleaning cars. It’s about being apart of a community and making each day count.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I’d take them to Torched Hop Brewery to drink the best beer in the city. Then I’d take them to Fred’s Meat and Breads in Krog Street Market for a Korean chicken cheesesteak. After taking a nice stroll along the beltline, we would head to the top of Hotel Clermont for a cocktail and some skyline views.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out the Atlanta detailing community as a whole. I was accepted as a friend and a colleague rather than an enemy or competition. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help from other detailers. Also shout out to Zeke at ACP Detail Supply. He’s been an incredible mentor and friend and I can’t thank him enough for always looking out for me.
