We had the good fortune of connecting with Roosh Benham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roosh, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My journey into starting my own photography business was not typical. With three toddlers to care for and a move across the country for my husband’s job, I didn’t have a chance to plan and execute my business in the traditional sense. It wasn’t until the year before my children started school that I realized I needed something to occupy myself. With a background in pharmaceutical sales, I knew I didn’t want to go back to that career.
One evening, my husband suggested I turn my love for photography into a career. Despite my initial hesitation about not knowing anything about professional cameras, he helped me research and choose my first Nikon digital camera. I began taking photos of my own family and friends, which quickly gained a following and led my husband to encourage me to get a business license.
Now, 11 years later, I have built a photography business that I love. I feel blessed to be able to help others see and capture their beauty in a unique and beautiful way through my work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At Roosh Photography, what sets us apart from others is our dedication to capturing the beauty and emotion of special moments through our lens. We are most proud of our ability to create stunning, timeless images that our clients of all shapes and ages can cherish for a lifetime.
Our journey to where we are today professionally has been anything but easy. We have faced numerous challenges along the way, from building our client base to mastering the technical aspects of photography. However, through hard work and perseverance, we have overcome these obstacles and continued to grow and improve.
The biggest lesson we have learned along the way is the importance of constantly striving for excellence and never becoming complacent. We are always looking for ways to push ourselves creatively and technically, and to stay ahead of the curve in terms of industry trends and technology. Giving our clients the opportunity to see the amazing art we can create together is an amazing gift for us both.
We are passionate about what we do and genuinely care about our clients and their memories. Our brand is built on a foundation of trust, quality, and professionalism, and we are committed to providing our clients with a truly exceptional experience with our all female staff. From our first interaction on the phone we want to know what brings you to us and how we can help you. Your photo goals are our goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh my goodness, so much to see and do here. I’m a foodie girl that loves a good cocktail so a tour based on good drinks and excellent food would be essential!
If my best friend were visiting the area for a week, here is a suggested itinerary for an amazing time:
Start the day with fresh fried donuts at Bloom or small coffee shop in downtown Alpharetta
Take a 1-2 hour drive to a winery in a small town, such as Montaluce Winery for lunch and a tasting
Visit Chateau Elan for a different vibe and book a hotel room to stay overnight and take full advantage of the spa services, winery/restaurants and pool.
For dinner options, tapas at Made or casual dining at Salt Factory
Our local favorite, The Union (Yes, as in it was an old Union 57 gas station!) You must try to Cashew Chicken there!!
For an amazing sushi dinner, Lily Sushi is the finest around.
Grab cocktails at 7 Acre if staying local or head to Buckhead for French Vietnamese cuisine at Le Colonial
I think a night at Ponce City Market would be a must do. All the variety is fun to explore for shopping and dining. Not to mention the rooftop at night.
Book a reservation at Georgia Boy for a non-traditional food tasting menu with group seating. The whole thing is an amazing experience and not easily forgotten. I still speak about it often.
End the trip with music, dancing, and cocktails at Roaring Social Speakeasy in Downtown Alpharetta.
The Atlanta area has much variety. It’s just one of the perks to living here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has been my biggest supporter as I navigate the challenges of being a mother and business entrepreneur. Living far from family, we rely on each other for support. Countless times, he has encouraged me to focus on my business while assuring me that he has everything under control with the kids. His unwavering support has allowed me the freedom to pursue my entrepreneurial goals with confidence.
