We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, I’ve always done photography part time while having a corporate America job. I wanted to pursue doing it full-time. When Covid hit, I was laid off in July 2019 and decided I was going to pursue it full-time and I felt it that was God’s hand, kind of showing me out of my comfort zone and out the door to pursue this full-time. Since this time, in 2022, I was double and triple booked at times, and then re-branded my business to now where I do everything from photography, videography, DJ, photo booth, and Day of Coordination. Yes.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So I initially started my Photography career in South America back in the film days. Fast forward to current day, the photography business has evolved into a one stop shop not only for weddings but also for any type of Event. I was doing photography part-time and working a corporate America job until 2019. COVID changed everything as I got laid off of my Corporate Job.

It felt that this was the push I needed to pursue photography full time. And that is what I did. In addition to this though I also formed another business delivering puppies to clients who didn’t want to fly during the pandemic. :). I think COVID threw everyone for a loop and it was some challenging times, but working through this and networking and forming those relationships brought us out on the other side. As you can imagine then everyone was looking to get married, celebrate events, etc. And there were times I was double and triple booked. In 2021 or so this brought different challenges because I lost business because I didn’t offer videography with my services, only photography. However an opportunity was presented to rebrand in late 2022/early 2023 to now offer Photography, Videography, DJ, Photobooth and Coordination not only for weddings but also Events (Anniversaries, Bar Mitzvahs, Birthdays, Corporate, etc.)

So that brings me to current day as Complete Weddings + Events. Where you can book one or all of our services . The best thing is as you book multiple services, you save more $$. Our philosophy is “It’s your Party, Party like you”. #partywithcomplete

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a little more difficult because it can be challenging to go out especially after working Events weekend after weekend. Now I am not complaining because I love what I do!!

There are many great places to go in North Georgia and Chattanooga. Some of my favorite places to visit or go to are Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Dahlonega and then you have some great places in Chattanooga.

I love me some Bourbon and enjoy smoking Cigars and/or a pipe as well. Some of those favorite people places I like to go to are:

1. Cigar Cellar – the have an amazing atmosphere with great drinks and live music on the weekends.
2. Cigar Tyme Lounge in Dalton, GA!! Juan & Rika are amazing owners and you feel like family here. Their Mexican restaurant next door also adds to the experience of drinks and cigars.
3. Then you have the wineries if you like to taste some fine Georgia Wine. Engelheim Vineyards in Ellijay, Yonah Mountain Vineyards in Dahlonega just to name a few.
4. Downtown Ellijay has some amazing restaurants. My personal favorite is the Butcher & Bottle. Then go and visit our friend Davis at his Cigar lounge called The Ellijay Cigar Lounge
5. Maxwell’s Cigar Bar in downtown Woodstock has live music on the weekends and we love to go there and practice our ballroom dance moves. 🙂
6. Downtown Chattanooga offers all kinds of entertainment and food choices

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say my spouse has had a huge impact on where I am today. She has been by me from day 1 encouraging me and always believing in me. Additionally she has been supportive of my endeavors when I am looking to attend additional education, purchase equipment and providing those positive affirmations .
