We had the good fortune of connecting with RK Runway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RK, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
6/9/2012 I lost someone very important to me. The person who saw the umph in me before i knew i had it. Losing him made me value the relationships and people i come across more. You never know when its your last day so live everyday like today is all you have left. The values and principles that matter most to me are these three,
1. I value the bonds i make or i dont come around. If we dont create a bond that has value then we dont have anything. The connection between me and my friends are why we have been friends 10 years+. I love on the people around me and they love on me back!
2. If you only giving 100% you are not trying hard enough. NOTHING about life is easy. You have to have both feet all the way in and go harder everytime wether you succeed or fail. Giving up is not a option. We keep going and use the hurt as armor to become stronger.
3. LOVE yourself. I struggle with self love for a very long time. But i will never forget where i come from and the people who support and cherish me.. This is for them , yes. But I have to love what Im doing or ill be miserable. DO WHAT YOU LOVE SO YOU TRULY NEVER HAVE TO WORK A DAY IN YOUR LIFE. Turn your passion into your occupation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am very into Modeling Dancing and Acting at the moment. I want to dive into music because i make music so easily. However; i dont want to do it wrong . I want the whole team and studio etc so once i start dropping i never have to stop. I had a lot of dancing success as a teenager. From premiering on Dancing with the stars , to being invited to “Black Girls Rock” as well as the Black Caucus Event in DC, to being a theater kid in school acting in musicals. Every day was a full schedule kind of thing. Now im throwing fashion shows , working with other models to further their careers. I building a production company for all arts. Theres a lot of art in the works and its not just for me. I want to support the models , actors , engineers, directors , writers etc around me . I know it wont be easy but it can be done. Im on tour right now with Urban Signature Magazine and i am their model coordinator as well. Nothing is easy but i can say that working on set , remembering lines or choreography , Rapping in front of a crowd. These things come wayy easier to me then working for a company. These talents I possess make me stand out in a crowd. They allow just me to be able to run a whole company for 5 different type of arts. Im creating a safe space for all arts. Along the way i have learned that everybody you start with may not be here in the end. So focus on who is. Focus on who shows you loyalty. Those who loyalty change on me just loose access to me. NO arguing no hard feelings. I simply remove the great person that i am away from negative energy and more on. Life could be so simply. Dont complicate it .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Growing up in camden has been a adventure for me. Some people cannot handle the area i live in. If a friend came to visit i would take them to “Burger Bar” In East Camden where you can have any kind of burger , vegan , seafood , salmon , etc. And everything is pork free. Then we would come back to my house , vibe play board games etc. As far as the weekend , we would either go to dubai on thursday or a small bar like Lubys. Friday we would go to philly. Saturday we would brunch at home. Make mimosas etc. Sunday would be a skating day at Millennium Skate World.

We ould get some studio time in , same dancing and some fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story is full of getting through things despite stuff failing around me. I have always had to use what i have to make gold. My dad has always been so supportive. Since I was 6 ive been doing pagents , fashion shows, auditions for modeling companies , cheer competitions , dance teams , travel squads ,etc. My childhood was very exspensive because i was very active. We could not afford these things so i started working very young to support myself so my dad wouldnt have to worry about e. I was so concerned with him that i started taking are of myself. MY dad always pushed me from there. Once he seen that i had something that needed to be molded into greatness he never told me no , he never let me quit , he pushed me when i wanted to give up. My dad made me resilient . He made me a boss , He made me see i can go further then i think i can. I owe a lot of my character traits to my OG. He did his best with me and i repay him with thanks and appreciation daily !
