We had the good fortune of connecting with Rick Cawston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rick, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started NHL to Atlanta because I knew there were hockey fans in the Atlanta area that had been overshadowed by the loss of the Thrashers. Hearing how people talked about hockey in Atlanta, I decided to start the account to give the fans here some advocacy and help turn the narrative wherever I could.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My passion for hockey has always been the foundation that I built NHL to Atlanta on. As the page has continued to grow, I’ve learned to never miss an opportunity to build a connection. A lot of these connections have helped me in significant ways in all sorts of areas in my life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Taco Mac and Chick-fil-A are the two places I’d definitely have them try if they’ve never been to the area before. Aside from that, the aquarium is one of my favorite spots downtown. Staying in the metro area, I’d take them to Braves and Gladiators games before showing some of the various parks around metro Atlanta: Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain are the first two that come to mind for me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without the hockey fans of Atlanta that have regularly engaged with my account, NHL to Atlanta wouldn’t have become what it is today. I also want to thank the Atlanta Gladiators organization for providing opportunities to help grow the sport in the area. I also cannot thank enough my partner, Kyle who has been a major asset when it comes to filling in where and when I cannot. Having him as an extra set of hands has allowed NHL to Atlanta to be in two places at once on multiple occasions.
