Meet Rasha Robbins | Makeup Artist/ Beauty Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rasha Robbins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rasha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was mainly expressing myself through beauty. I have overcome many obstacles to get here. I wanted to inspire someone else to keep going, even when you feel as if there is nothing left. I want to make an impact on anyone who wants to defeat the enemy and become better mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
MakeupRashaC is an experience. We strive to leave an impact on everyone that comes in contact with our business. I love being able to tell my story to my clients. It is healing for me to know where I have been and where I am headed. My story began in middle school. I loved everything about makeup from mascara to the beauty supply eyeshadow. December 2016, I decided to start taking clients. I would practice on whomever would allow me to. I was living in Asheville, North Carolina at the time and I would drive to Sparta, Ga just to practice with family and friends. There was a lot of trial and error. I began perfecting my craft and going live on Facebook and Instagram. In January of 2019, I lost my job. It was a tough loss, but with my degree, I knew I’d find another opportunity. That opportunity always came 2 years later. I was devastated, hurt, embarrassed, depressed, you know name it. I felt as if I was a failure. You know the feeling of when someone is waiting for your downfall and it finally happens, but you don’t show up just for them to say “I told you so”. During this time, I became closer than ever with GOD. I started journaling, really diving into self worth and being intentional about everything. I was given an opportunity to work on podcasts with celebrities. I knew makeup was my purpose because GOD allowed me to be in rooms with people of the same mindset. My husband and I found out we were pregnant with our second child 6 months later. I was defeated. I asked GOD, how could you punish me when I feel as if I’ve lost everything. I couldn’t think about bringing another child into this world. My entire pregnancy was horrible. I was depressed, angry, my anxiety was through the roof…it was awful. My husband threw me a surprise baby shower and I couldn’t even react because mentally, I wasn’t there. I didn’t want to be celebrated. I felt as if I was nothing. Little did I know, I would be standing in the beginning of my future. Once I gave birth, I started doing makeup again and started going to therapy. I have PTSD and severe anxiety. I asked God to keep me grounded in who I am, to make me whole in places I couldn’t imagine, but most importantly, to not get complacent in the world that is full of fame and fortune. I created this brand with hopes that everyone would seek help and really take care of themselves. Makeup did that for me. God keeps doing that for me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m an outdoor person. I love going on nature walks and spending time with family and friends. We would go to the mountains on a hike, maybe catch a waterfall, especially in the fall (the leaves are immaculate). I’m also a foodie… we definitely have to stop by favorite restaurant in the city (RuSan’s). It’s a sushi spot. It’s not overpriced and the portions are very generous. I love Triton Yards, as well. It’s an establishment in East Point with local food trucks, I love food trucks more than restaurants. I like people watching, as well, so we can’t forget about Atlantic Station and The Battery. Good shopping experience, but there is always something to do in those spots.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Jawuan Robbins, is an advocate for my growth. He has seen me at my lowest. He is also the muscle behind the brand. He keeps on track with making sure we are aligned with our brand. He nominated me for the feature. I love him so much!
