We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Ramsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always leaned into the creative passions that bring me joy. However I also have a side of me that enjoys math & science and structure. Over many years I’ve found intriguing ways to merge those worlds together, first as a Pastry Chef , and now as a business owner in the restaurant industry. My love for the culinary arts manifests itself daily as we work with our clients to build the foundations of their HR or People departments.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Measured HR, we specialize in providing innovative HR consulting and solutions for the restaurant and hospitality industry. What sets us apart is our deep understanding of the industry’s unique challenges and our ability to create tailored strategies that foster strong teams and efficient operations. We’re proud to combine cutting-edge HR technology with personalized support, helping businesses streamline their workforce management and thrive.

My journey to founding Measured HR has been shaped by my diverse background in the restaurant industry. I started as a chef, transitioned to a general manager, and eventually found my passion as an HR professional. Each role taught me invaluable lessons—how to manage teams under pressure, build operations from the ground up, and navigate the complexities of an industry that never stops moving. This hands-on experience gives me a unique perspective when working with restaurant owners. I understand their world because I’ve lived it, from creating menus to managing payroll, and I know what it takes to succeed.

It hasn’t been an easy journey. I’ve been challenged to build trust, stay ahead of industry shifts, and proving the value of strong HR practice. Overcoming them required resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering belief in the power of people. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that every business is unique, and the best solutions start with truly listening and understanding each client’s goals and culture.

What I want the world to know about Measured HR is that we are more than just a consulting firm. We are partners who care deeply about our clients’ success. With a foundation built on experience and empathy, we celebrate every win as if it were our own. Our story is one of growth, innovation, and a commitment to helping restaurants thrive—because when they succeed, so do their people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is such a fun place to live. You can experience and do so much, so you must pace yourself ! My favorites places to eat & Drink are : The Optimist , The Woodall , Nan Thai ( You must order the Beef Cheeks and Crab Fried Rice !) Brunch @ Buttermilk Kitchen, North Italia ( The Kale Salad… everyday ), eat everything at Aria, Catfish & Wings @ Harold’s In Edgewood, & Roti @ Hawkers on the Beltline, and lastly Tesserae for drinks. I would suggest, visiting SCAD , The High Museum on 1st Fridays catching a game at The Battery or seeing the Hawks at State Farm Arena.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to all of the amazing leaders I’ve been privileged to learn from : Matthew Weingarten , Diane Salamone , Valerie Marshall & Kutina Ruhumbika.
