We had the good fortune of connecting with Qiana Sweet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Qiana, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
XO Tigerlily strives to be a platform that educates our community on all things holistic health and wellness. We aim to change the way people view skin care (especially as it relates to skin diseases and conditions), as well as how they view health. We offer a variety of skin care items and herbal remedies to help others maintain optimal wellness.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My herbal studies started in 2015 while I was transitioning my hair out of a perm. By 2016 I was formulating skin care products for my own eczema. During this time I was attending Valdosta State University as a biology major so much of my background involves the sciences and research. XO Tigerlily was officially founded June 26, 2018. In 2021 I began branding my business as a Holistic Wellness Company, as I felt we had outgrown simply offering skin care products. Much of XO Tigerlily’s offerings and success have been rooted in personal experience and the desire to see my family and community healthy. This journey hasn’t been easy and has involved making a lot of personal changes. I’ve taken everything I’ve learned in customer service and the companies I’ve worked for and have already begun thinking of how my future Wellness Center will operate in terms of clients and employees. I’ve learned the type of boss I do (and don’t) want to be and the type of people I would want to hire based on their qualities. Having a positive and inclusive work environment is extremely important to me. I want people to be comfortable being themselves in ways that they might not be able to incorporate America. Deep in my bones I know I’m a healer and I carry myself in this way in all of my interactions with others. I have seen many of my family members in and out of the hospital my entire life, lost family members (my mother included) to cancer, and family members to mental health problems. I fully intend for my business to be a place of solace, a place where others can seek healing through several modalities. I am currently studying to be an esthetician to supplement everything I have already learned about skincare. Once this program is complete I want to take courses that will teach me how to care for cancer patients with a holistic approach. A year from now I hope to have my own online academy up and running where I can teach others how to create their own holistic skincare business. I would also like to study to become a spirituality coach and peristeam hydrotherapist.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My interests are pretty simple. We would definitely do a game night and a movie night. If this friend is open to new foods I would take them to Southern Vegan Soul cafe. For drinks I would take them to Texas Roadhouse for margaritas if it’s the day time, or to Billy’s Clubhouse with a few of my favorite people if it’s night time.
If we were to do one activity each day it would flow a little something like this:
Sunday – Movie Night
Monday – Billy’s Clubhouse
Tuesday – Pin Strikes
Wednesday – Lunch at Southern Vegan Soul Cafe
Thursday – Visit Homeland Village Cultural Center
Friday – Game Night
Saturday – Their choice
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Aisha Andrea. She has been a friend to me as well as a sister. I have watched her overcome several obstacles while maintaining her family in Georgia. Most of her family lives elsewhere and she’s created her own village among many of our friends. She has always supported my business in ways that I wouldn’t have expected and in turn I’ve had the pleasure of watching all of her endeavors take off in major ways.
