We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Singh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikki, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is essential for success in any form.

In the world of artistry, the more risk taken, the more memorable and unforgettable the experience is. When I take risks in my career, it gives my clients the wow factor.

In terms of my personal life, I think trying everything at least once allows me to know what works for me and what doesn’t. You don’t know what can be successful until you have tried. You can’t grow in comfort.

Keep in mind that although risk taking is important, good judgement prior to taking those risks also work hand in hand.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being someone who is known for both makeup artistry and content creation, it can be interesting balancing two different dynamics. Both of these industries are different from each other. In the realm of makeup artistry, I do my best to ensure that my clients are provided with an experience, and not just an appointment, Makeup is personal. It’s your face. It has the ability to make or break your self esteem. Being that it’s something so personal, it’s only right I treat it as such. Because I’m passionate about what I do, my ethic and artistry reflect just that. My clients always make it a point to recognize my dedication to my craft. Because of this, the demand for my services went up. It wasn’t easy at first to build clientele in a new city (I moved here 4 years ago). It was extremely frustrating to start from ground zero, coming from a city where I was already established. With some organization, networking, and proper marketing, I have successfully found my feet in this amazing city, and turned some of my clients into friends.

As far as content creation goes, I am proud of myself for creating a safe space for people of my culture on the internet. Guyana, the country my family comes from, is one with unique, but rich culture that is a mix of South American and Caribbean heritage (geographically, and culturally/socioeconomically). I am thankful to have lived there and experience the culture and ways of my people as a first-generation child. Much of my content is based on my culture, and it allows others to reminisce, and at bare minimum… smile. Life is hard enough. Find something to make you smile. I have been able to connect with people in such a unique way through my content.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A time will be had when in my presence. If my best friend came to visit, we are starting the weekend with a spa date to relax. You can’t have fun if you’re stressed. A good smoothie after would be amazing. We have to eat at Rodney’s Jamaican Resturant, Ssamjang Korean BBQ, Two Urban Licks, Steak Market, Zeke’s, and Pokeworks. Coming from NYC, and living in ATL, the food scene is a bit different. These places don’t ever disappoint. We would definitely go for ice cream and walk the beltline, and maybe even hit up a karaoke bar.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize and thank my “village”; God, my family, friends, and supporters have contributed to my success. I’m thankful to always be blessed and highly favored. And I want the people in my village to know how much I appreciate every little thing they do. You are all loved and respected.
