We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My decision to start my DUI school came from both my professional experience and my desire to serve my community in a more impactful way. As a mental health professional, I’ve worked with individuals who were navigating difficult life circumstances, including legal issues related to driving offenses. I began to notice a gap—not just in access to required programs, but in the quality and approach of those services.

I wanted to create a space that wasn’t just about meeting a court requirement, but about real behavioral change, accountability, and education. My goal was to provide a program that is structured, supportive, and rooted in understanding the ‘why’ behind people’s decisions, not just the consequences.

Starting my DUI school allowed me to combine education, prevention, and personal development. I saw it as an opportunity to help individuals not only fulfill their obligations but also leave with tools to make better choices moving forward. Ultimately, it aligns with my broader mission of helping people experience a true fresh start.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Fresh Start Counseling Services and Fresh Start Driving DUI School, where my work centers around helping individuals create meaningful, lasting change in their lives. My professional journey began in the mental health field, where I worked closely with individuals, families, and adolescents navigating emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. Through that experience, I recognized a consistent need for services that not only meet requirements, but truly support personal growth and accountability.

What sets my businesses apart is the approach. Whether it’s counseling or DUI/Risk Reduction education, my focus is not just on compliance, but on transformation. I strive to create environments where people feel seen, supported, and challenged to grow. I integrate mental health principles into my DUI programming, which allows clients to better understand the behaviors behind their decisions rather than simply completing a course.

My journey into entrepreneurship was not without challenges. Transitioning from a structured role into building my own businesses required resilience, faith, and a willingness to take risks. There were moments of uncertainty, but I remained grounded in my purpose—to serve my community and provide accessible, impactful services.

What I am most proud of is the ability to create spaces where individuals can truly experience a ‘fresh start.’ Whether it’s a client making progress in therapy or someone completing a program with a new mindset, those moments are what drive me.

Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of consistency, adaptability, and staying connected to your ‘why.’ Entrepreneurship will challenge you, but it also reveals your strength and vision.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that it is rooted in authenticity, accountability, and empowerment. This is more than a business—it’s a mission to help people move forward, make better decisions, and step into a healthier version of themselves.
