We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Powers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matthew, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve had to make is to move across country to pursue my dreams and leave my family back home.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is that I have a great work ethic and im always keeping up with the latest trends in music. I got to where I am today by going to Audio Engineering school and landing an internship at Shangri La Studio interning for Rick Rubin. It was not easy but I had made multiple connections and life long friends in the music industry who I am still in touch with to this day. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to always stay humble and true to yourself and never quit no matter how hard things become. What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I had started at the bottom learning the In’s and Outs of the music industry from engineering, Producing, Managing and the business itself. I started my career when I was young in the city of Chicago and haven’t looked back since.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting I would take them around Atlanta and show the best of the best anywhere from music studios that I attend to the Braves stadium. In my view I like to travel so I would take my friend wherever I would go wether it was Europe or Spain. I think traveling and experiencing new things is a must so life doesn’t feel empty.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my brother Db for helping me elevate my sound and showing me how to become a better producer. I would also like to give thanks to my family and friends for supporting me throughout my journey thus far. Finally I would like to give a shoutout to my rock Nicole for always being there for me through all of my trials and tribulations in the industry and in life in general.
