We had the good fortune of connecting with Marissa Jefferson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marissa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was all over the place honestly I have been do DIY projects for a long time and my friends and family would be like you need to make this a business and I was always scared to do it I would doubt myself like “noooo nobody would support me” and I was always afraid of turning it into a source of income so my main thought was being afraid to start my business

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of finally turning my diy projects and creativity into a source of income and doing something that I love. I got where Iam at today by never giving up and researching new things to make it decorate it takes hard work and dedication. I didn’t quite over come my challenges just yet because everyday is a challenge so I set goals to reach to help me get to that point of overcoming my challenges. The lessons I learn is “MIND YOUR BUSINESS!” to some it comes of rude but it’s self explanatory and it means a lot if you mind your business your focus is only on your business and your have a clearer mind set on what you need to keep you business a float another lesson I learned is “YOUR PRICES IS YOUR PRICES” you can’t please everyone and that one customer doesn’t stop your business because they don’t like your price it’s someone out there that would pay your price in double. I want the world to know that my business maybe small now but I have so many plans and ideas for it to grow bigger and I’m coming for that spot I owe it to my 5 children and I’m going to give it to them !

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Umm I honestly don’t know I haven’t been out on the town in a very long time I don’t even know half of the new club names anymore I’m a homebody

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends would be the ones that gets my shoutout for believing in me and seeing the potential in me. Before I seen and didn’t allow me to doubt myself
