We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Mauldin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Follow Through” When I was a kid my grandfather Bob Rogers gave me a desk plaque for Christmas that had “Follow Through” written on it. He shared with me that these were the words that got him through his life long career wth Kodak. As I got older and started my own career as a photographer I started to really understand the meaning behind the words. As he explained, I can obtain any goal as long as I follow this simple phrase. He was right. Follow through means to me the concept of doing everything to the fullest with your best effort. I’ve applied this to every step in my career and acknowledge that this has been the key to my success. I took it so serious that “follow through” was my fist tattoo on the inside of my right arm.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Photography is in my blood. My grandfather Bob Rogers started his career as a photographer in WWII and then went on to worked for Kodak for over 40 years. I started climbing my career ladder in 2002. What sets me apart from most is my over all exposure and experience in the industry. While studying film and photography at GSU in 2002 I got a part time job as a scenic carpenter at an ad studio which evolved into photo assisting. On the side was also traveling with a few bands as a lighting director. I balanced touring around the country and freelance photo assisting for 7 years. I was fortunate to work with all types of photographer, art/creative directors and experience traveling the country as a self thought lighting director. This was a very hard balance and not easy to advance in both industries. I had to pick one or the other. I decided in 2010 that I was going to focus on photography full time. When deciding to do this I knew I had to pick a focus. I had many years working in home product photography which came natural while working at different studios around ATL but I also always had a love for interior design. Shooting interiors reminded me of lighting stages in my touring days. By being able to light a space different then how the viewer normally sees a stage or a home was the common bond for me from these two worlds. Net working and building relationships is the glue to all of this. Getting involved in the interior design community was a must. I wanted to learn as much as I could about interior design so I could know how to look at design through designers eyes. I joined Design Collective Atlanta in 2015 and been a board member for the past two years. Exposure, experience and relationships is the foundation my brand is built on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a tuff question to answer during COVID. haha.. I love live music so I would suggest catching a show a The EARL or 529 in the east Atlanta village. My some of favorite restaurants would be Elliott Street Pub, Holy Taco, Home Grown, etc. I love a dive. I feel the most over looked experience in Atlanta is the drive-in at Starlight. it’s a must!
