We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc-Anthony Sinagoga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc-Anthony, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am Canadian with an Italian background which has impacted my entire life. It’s stayed with me in every decision. I was raised surrounded by a big Italian family.
The good thing is, there is always more than enough food. My family’s history is hard-working, making something out of nothing type of mentality. The only problem is when you do something unconventional, they don’t quite understand it. However, I can apply that same discipline and hard work to my own field.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a stand-up comedian, I have the privilege in life to be able to make people laugh for a living. With persistence, hard work, and resilience, I’ve made a career out of it.
It was definitely not easy but I keep pushing forward because I know this is what I want to do in life, so I submit to the process.
Due to my massive family, I have endless material and stories to tell that people just can’t believe. I think that’s what sets me apart, my ability to tell these long family stories that are just insane.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d say you gotta eat well, drink well and enjoy some live entertainment. Toronto is made up of a bunch of small little neighborhoods, it’s worth going to all of them if you have the time.
Spend a day in the distillery district and hit St.Lawerence Market.
Go have lunch in a Greek town on the Danforth. (Greek Grill, tzatziki, Comedy Bar Danforth)
Go to Geary Street for lunch and take your pick from North of Brooklyn Pizza, Familia Baldassara, or Parallel Brothers.
If you’re a brunch goer – Mildreds Temple or School are great.
If you like smash burgers – Rudys.
I mean just DM me on Instagram @notmarcanthony and I’ll give you a laundry list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be honest it’s my family. I would not have been able to chase my dream of becoming a comedian without my family supporting me unconditionally in my venture. Even now having a wife with a baby on the way, I’ve found a life partner who is down to support the unpredictability of comedy and entertainment. Without support in this industry, it can become extremely difficult.
