We had the good fortune of connecting with Maggie Walls and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maggie, what matters most to you?
When it comes to my business, the most important principle for me is organizational culture. At Momentum Arts, we have managed to foster a very specific culture of inclusivity that resonates strongly with our community of students and parents. When you have a business that offers a service or product that is being offered by others, the culture of your organization is what truly distinguishes you as the right fit for your clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Momentum Arts was founded in 2017 with the expectation that we would produce 1-2 theatre productions a year with a focus on affordability and inclusivity in our programming. 7 years later, we have produced over 70 full theatre productions, hosted countless showcases, and have served hundreds of students through our theatre, dance, and music programming. It very quickly became clear that there was a need for what we offer in our community, and that youth in our area were looking for a safe space to grow and learn about empathy and self-expression.

Our biggest challenge has been accommodating our growth while still keeping our scholarship program running and fitting all of our programming in our small space. We were fortunate to be able to expand into a neighboring space a few years ago, which has helps, but we are definitely in need of more space to offer programming!

Momentum is unique in our approach to teaching the arts – we focus on meeting students at their level and growing them as performers. While we have an amazing production staff who work hard to provide fun sets and props and costumes, we teach our students that the top priority is their commitment to their performance and bringing everything they have to that performance. Everything else is glitter.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
While the name fools many, Snellville and our surrounding cities actually have quite a bit to offer. We’re a quick drive to Atlanta, where there’s no end of opportunities for visitors who want to explore the city. For those who want to stay closer to home, most of the cities in our county have fantastic downtown area with restaurants and boutiques to explore.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The success of Momentum is truly due to the amazing families who consistently step up as volunteers in so many areas. My shoutout goes to those families, without whom our organization truly would not be what it is today.
