Meet Maggie Fuchs | Visual Storyteller, Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maggie Fuchs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maggie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk is vital for any form of growth. Even if you fail, you’re learning something out of it. I’m pretty introverted but in recent years have forced myself to step out of my comfort zone and explore the world and the people in it. This expanded my perspective so much and as for my career I am no longer afraid to ask someone if they want to shoot or let my full creative thoughts spill when we are shooting. Authenticity is the most beautiful form of creativity and what we are all craving so why not take the risk and show your truest self to the world? Since I have, I’ve noticed a major shift in my friendships, family, and quality of life as a whole.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My purpose is to create art expressing the true and raw ambience of people and the way we live. Whether that is through love, sadness, tranquility, or happiness I wish to document it all. Art isn’t meant to be classified because of its complexities and humans are built the same way. I grew up in Macon, Georgia in a two mom home and attended a private school for most of my life. This upbringing taught me many lessons about inclusion and sticking up for what’s right and true to you. This impacts my work in the way that I want to feature people’s truest self above anything else and we work as a team/ friendship to compliment that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In the fun hustle and bustle of Atlanta there are many exciting things to see. After doing a little driving around the city and seeing it from above on parking decks, I would take them to Little Five Points to explore the funky shops and buy fun props for photo shoots of course. Then we would go pick up food and have a picnic at Piedmont Park where we could meet up with friends and hang out.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people and organizations that have helped shaped me into who I am, but one person that I really look up to as a photography and life mentor is Nate Dorn Images. He has helped me with new ideas and perspectives throughout my career and lets me assist on his shoots with him gaining experience. With my line of work, I am also most inspired by the collaborative effort between my subjects and I in the creative process.
