We had the good fortune of connecting with Lowray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lowray, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue a creative career because creative environments are where I feel I can thrive the most. I like collaborating and contributing to ideas and projects in creative spaces where I don’t necessarily have to stick to an ultra-rigid company process.

I believe that I am able to produce my best work when I am given the space to be creative.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a music producer and DJ with about 8 years of combined experience and I love that I get to continually learn something new everyday.

I’ve been very fortunate to have been surrounded by people in music who have supported me and provided me with advice and resources to help build the brand I’ve created. It has always been important for me to create a strong network of creative friends that I can collaborate with. Collaboration is so important in the music business and it is very hard to truly make a name for yourself if you’re doing everything by yourself.

I’m definitely not where I want to be just yet but I’ve continued to stick to my game plan and I know that if I continue to put in the work, I can accomplish everything I want to and more (as corny as that sounds haha).

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, we would definitely have to get a studio session in. Going to a studio regularly has been a game changer for my business and also just my growth as a creator and I would love to give my friends a glimpse into that kind of space.

We would also have to go this event called Controllerise where people can listen to DJ sets, watch tv/movies, color, grab drinks, and hang out. It’s such a unique event and is also a great place for creatives and general lovers of music alike.

For food, we would probably just end up doing a wings tour and rank them and find some hole in the wall spots based on how we’re feeling that day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, there are so many people I could thank at this time for their help and support as I’ve been going along my creative journey.

One person that I have to shoutout in particular is Jeremiah Adkins. He has been a great friend and collaborator who I’ve been able to lean on to vet my ideas and business plans to and he has also provided a creative space for myself and independent creatives to truly thrive in their businesses.
